FC-Datalogit Users Required!
Hi folks.
We need the help of some seasoned FC-Datalogit users to finish fine tuning the latest version of Data Log Lab. Data Log Lab has just been extended to support data logs generated by FC-Datalogit, but whilst all of the generic data within the log loads in without issue, there's a few RX-7 specific bits that we need some more info about.
Do you have some example data logs that you can send through to us? If so, please email them through to support@dataloglab.com - your help is greatly appreciated.

Had some very useful example data logs sent through yesterday - thanks. Though if any one's got any more they'll gratefully received!
Yesterday's logs did immediately highlight a difference between RX-7 data logs and other car types that we've seen so far, and this would have prevented them being loaded by Data Log Lab. The difference is a missing engine type identifier at the start of the log, as seen in this Nissan example:

Yesterday's data logs also showed some columns that we haven't seen in other engine formats. Can anyone provide info on what these columns contain and their minimum and maximum values?

I only know a few for sure without looking up the exact name for the others:
IGL = ignition leading
IGT = ignition Trailing
ELD = Electrical Load
CAT = Catalytic converter (usually comes on when it gets too hot)
FPD = Fuel Pulsation Dampener
FPR = Fuel Pressure Regulator
STR = Starter
VTA 1 & 2 = is the Narrow and Wide sweep of the Throttle Position Sensor (cant remember which is which)
CLT = Clutch
VMOP = voltage reading on the Oil Metering Pump
IGL = ignition leading
IGT = ignition Trailing
ELD = Electrical Load
CAT = Catalytic converter (usually comes on when it gets too hot)
FPD = Fuel Pulsation Dampener
FPR = Fuel Pressure Regulator
STR = Starter

InjFS is injector, front, secondary. InjFP is injector, front, primary.
The one thing to note about a rotary is that there are two fuel injectors and two spark plugs per rotor (2 rotors stock). So there is front primary and front secondary injectors (front being the rotor closest to the front of the car) as well as rear primary and rear secondary. Leading is the first of the two plugs to fire, trailing is second (again frou plugs total), and the difference in degrees between these two sparks firing is called split.

Unfortunately FC Datalogit displays the value in a raw format.
To get the % value you must multiply the number with 0.8333 (212.50 / 255.00)

FWIW i have downloaded the program and am riding the learning curve. i will post my comments in a few days...
at the moment there is no IGL or IGT as well as primary and secondary injector output.

btw, after a bit of struggle, what's new, i did get the Power Graph to work. part of it was making a clean run on my 2 lane country road and the other was a bit of the learning curve.
it appears to generate a first class HP and Torque "dyno" sheet. while i am still a couple of weeks away from an actual dyno the numbers look real close to my expectations.... all w temp and pressure calculations.
i also appreciate the additional definition v the Power FC datalogit scaling of the stripchart...
i would think fasthatch should add a function similar to the power graph as it is a simple time/mass acceleration table... well not that simple
i will be signing up for the DataLogLab when my 30 day deal is up.

Thanks for the info Howard, but are you sure about the frontal area? I know Mazda list my Miata at 22.3ft2 and I would have thought the RX-7 is bigger.
I believe the stock tyre size is 225/50R16 - is that correct?
Also, can you get the Power FC for earlier generation RX-7s, and does FC-Datalogit support them (can't make it out from the FC-Datalogit web site)?

According to the Datalogit page, the RX-7 Datalogit works for all RX-7 PowerFCs, including the FC3S (2nd gen RX-7) version.
By far, the majority of the PowerFC users are the '93-95 RX-7s, as that is the only US model.

All the Car Definition parameters are editable. For a first gen I'd guess you'll be wanting to change weight and tyres sizes as well.
