i buy a new apexi fc-datalogit(black box) but i've some problems

Connect my car and then connect to my laptop pc with usb converter.

open software (version 2.120 ) Com port OK but Error

"Interface not responding" Led ligth is Red (stable runing green light?)
i tried direct com port but result is identical again




what is

i need full stable connection diagram ?

question : fc-datalogit runing extra 5v elecktric or 12 v ?

This could be a matter of the wrong com port being selected. Mine goes through a serial to usb converter but on my laptop I still need to connect to it by selecting com5.

Try each com port in turn and hopefully you'll find the solution.

 

NOPE! this is the exact problem we are having

i just tried two different datalogits, 5 different usb converters, One pcmcia to serial converter, and two different lap tops.... saaaaaame ****.

the two datalogits we tried were ordered at the same time.

we are stumped right now and i have 3 cars that i have to tune... i'm gonna have to buy back my old beige box arrrrg

 

Just FYI, the black box I bought new in June works fine. It came with v2.122, so it might be a newer batch.

 

I'm also have a problem with a new black datalogit. My error is "Invalid FC-box version response!"

 

Why are you not using V 2.122 software as it has been out since June?

Get with the program!

 

OK here is the answer to one of your questions

AN1 this ? Input 0-5V

AN3 this ? Input 0-5V

AN5 this ? Input 0-5V or Switched inputs
AN6 this ? Input 0-5V or Switched inputs
AN7 this ? Input 0-5V or Switched inputs
AN8 this ? Input 0-5V or Switched inputs
0V this ? Ground for AN1 thru AN-8

On the serial port make sure the settings are correct..... Like the following

This is how your serial port setting should be
Bits per second --9600
Data Bits -----------8
Parity ---------------None
Stop Bits -----------1
Flow Control -------None

Also make sure that you have the correct Datalogit version (Black/Grey)

 

the bits per second on the serial port settings won't make a difference, but don't change anything else from default.

Are you using a radio shack serial to usb cable? If so you need to download the proper driver for it. Then the next problem you will have is finding the proper com port. Takes a while to get it up and going but once you do you'll never have a problem and if you do you'll know exactly what to do

 

this might be a little off topic but i have a fd with a power fc, and i was wondering what the datalog does exactly, and what products/programs will help me record info and such. anyone who has suggestions or imput??

 

The DL was originally made for the FD and the software was called FD3S.

Hey I just found my problem with my new datalogit. I went to windows manager and made sure my usb convertor in working. I had to reload a driver for the usb and it set itself to com 4. I think most of your problems are that the drivers are not being downloaded.

The software works fine on my Home computer but not laptops.

 

what version of the fc-edit are you using on the pc it doesn't work on? make sure in "setup" you have it set for the correct box.

 

Are you running a different version of windows? Some computers are strange... I have two laptops both running xp professional and they needed different drivers

 

I'm using the Disk that came with the Black box. FC-Edit v2.119

Okay, I think I got it! I downloaded version v2.123 and it seems to be working now! Just need to connect everything and cross my fingers.

 

this is why I use a late 90s laptop with a real serial port. i don't have to mess with any of the USB conversion crap. It works just fine with my black box datalogit

 

That is why I bought a use cheap laptop to be used only for tuning.
All uneeded software and services have been deleted or disabled.

This increased my logging speed.

 

Im having the same problems... also.. where do I download the DRIVERS for the beige box?

I registered my datalogit but still havnt got a reply after a week on my subscribption to the Datalogit Egroup thing.

 

I used a couple differant USB converters and they did not work even with the correct divers. I purchased another from rx7.com and it works fine..and was the cheapest of the bunch..

 

Any one figure this out? I am having this problem with a black box model.... I bought it new from the FD newbie Group buy over the spring...

^ This is definately a driver issue for your USB converter cable. I have the same black box datalogit, purchased from the same group buy, and I have had no connection problems because I use an older laptop with a real serial port.
