Thanks Howard. If experience any problems uploading the images, shoot me a PM and I'll get you my email. Then I can 'fix' them.

I was planning on the teamrimp thermocouples you posted about, but I'll only be running one in the downpipe (still on twins). I bought a regular EGT gauge a while back and now I'm reconsidering using it given the information you kindly provided in a few of your posts.

Id love to have the schematics for K-type TC converted to 0-5V signal if anyone can post/e-mail them. baltruckij@netscape.net

Has anyone used this with the Techedge LA1 52mm gauge?

http://www.wbo2.com/la1/default.htm

I have this already and would love to be able to bring egt into logging and use the TE gauge for display. (and get rid of one of my greddy gauges)

Also if anyone has already done this and is interested in putting together something to sell to me drop me a pm. I have never gotten around to putting my electronics knowledge to actual use (other than building the DIY Techedge kit).

Thanks!

i was just logging on to post the exact (above) maps.... the main map generates a 0-10 volt signal output. the second map cuts the voltage of the output to 0-5 volts so it fits the Datalogit.

i have both the 10 volt and 5 volt outputs and have realtime checked them against each other and they check accurately.

i have done a great deal of crosschecking my two thermocouples against each other ( one for the front rotor one for the rear). they are dead accurate.

my rear rotor runs colder than my front, which is opposite from what you should find, and has to do w my twin TO4 setup. using the lag settings i have my rotors now running identical temps.

this is a cheap deal to make. i called Analog Devices and they sent me 2 AD595s free. the rest of the stuff probably won't cost $20.

do NOT skimp on the thermocouples. i acted upon Jeff (Jeff48) Feltman's recommendation and bought the TeamRip.com's thermocouples at $45 each. they log instantaneous and have survived a couple of 2000 degree readings just fine and will be back in the car for 06.

knowing your egts for each of the 400 tuning cells on the Datalogit may save an engine and will undoubtedly give you a major advantage as to tuning.

If you want a fancy display I'd look to buy a commercially available gauge. If you just want to tune w/o a computer that has analog inputs, you can just use a digital volt meter. Since the 0-10v output is linear, stick the DVM it on milli-volts and it will display in degrees celcius. You could theoretically hack apart a small DVM to make a gauge but many of the cheap ones have pretty slow displays.

Hey guys checkout my search list; Hope this helps to rx7 community

http://www.simplecircuitboards.com/Thermocouples.html

35$

This board was designed for car enthusiasts who wish to monitor the temperature of their exhaust gas in order to fine tune their engine’s performance. The design is based on the Analog Devices AD595 (type K) Thermocouple Amplifier and has additional circuitry to enable its use in automotive applications.

Maximum output is 5V DC at 1000 degrees C (1800 F). This board is intended to be used with a DAC device to handle temperature conversion. Requires 12 to 24VDC power. Thermocouple is not included.
and this

1/8"Type K Thermocouple with 1/8"NPT SS Compression Fitting

34$

This is cheapest solution I have found so far.

I might just buy the 2A1 from Wbo2 which can log upto 3 egt, plus can do many other functions (wideband, datalogging) its not that much if you build it yourself (about $160.00).

Does anybody have any pics of the completed product, I'm not too good with circuits.
Is the limit 1000C with this?
5v is 1000C, 4V is 800C?
