couple Tuning questions

when the Engine is Cold and warmed up it runs fine...

when the engine is heat soaked it starts to run poorly..

idle starts to surge a bit..

but this is most noticable..

I leave work.. drive out to lunch.. park the car

it heat soaks when the AIT hit the 70's

car starts and runs like it's pig rich.. doesn't want to rev bogging like hell

i'll try to massage and rev it up in the 3k plus.. and then it kinda settles..

when I drive off the car hesitates and bogs alot at low RPM

low Rpm driving blows... ur driving down the street at low rpm.. clutch out in 2nd gear.. in slow traffic.. and the car starts to Buck and I can feel the whole engine and tranny moving.. (I don't know if this is a product of low torque motor or poor tuning)

after driving a bit and getting the temps 69 and below the motor runs fine again..





2nd issue...

when there's no load.. and I rev up the motor and hold it at a steady RPM

I can hear the engine miss firing almost... u hear burps in the exhaust

rrrrrrr brrp rrrrr brrpp rrrrr

and the rpm will dip momentarily

watching the Commander the map is holding the timing at zero split ~ 24/24 LT/TT


this problem is ALOT more obvious when the motor is heat soaked..

You did not mention what the heat soak water temps were.
There are DL only accessable tables that use water and air temp overheat for engine protection. They retard timing and add more fuel.
Either they are set too safe or your tune is too rich to begin with.

If you install the FAN MOD SWITCH and turn it on at lease 2 minutes before turing off the engine and the engine is full hot, it will keep the fans on for 10 minutes to cool down the engine bay.

water temps are usually within the normal range..

I have my fan come on at 90*C

after heat soaking the water temp doesn't change much..

timing is set to retard 1* at 70*C and 3* and 80*C shoud I set it to zero?

water temp correction is 1.000 for low and high load at 80*C


inj vs airtemp is 0.957 at +80C


dunno if the mods matter but it has stock SMIC with hard pipes, stock rad, DP,MP,CB, Apexi filters, HKS twin power,stock plugs, rich man's Non seq.


any idea about the 2nd problem?

does others cars do the same thing when holding the rpm up with no load?
