Power FC computer doesnt recognize power fc hardware

computer doesnt recognize power fc hardware
I dont have the cd i downloaded the .rar file but i dont know what to do. all my windows xp says is there is a problem with your hardware not found. do i need ot have it plugged into the power fc. all i did was plug my black box using the usb cable it came with it.

you need to install the software for the USB cable adapter, it should come with the cable in the package. OR look up the serial/model number of the adapter and go to the manufcaturer website and download and install the software.
once you installed the software and plug the cable in the computer should recognize the cable and install it to work on the machine. you can then right click on "my computer" and go into "properties" at the bottom and then click on "hardware" tab then click on "device manager" find the icon from there called "USB to serial adapters" and find your adapter, right click on it and again choose "properties" at the bottom. from there you will see "Location" about half way down, that is the COM port that it is installed and working under. in FC Edit you can change the COM port to match that number under the setup tab.
the USB cable needs to be hooked up to the ECU and ignition turned on for FCEdit to communicate with the ECU. click "read all" in FD Edit and that will pull the current maps off the ECU for you to see.
