This is awesome. Can you tell us more about the replacement screen? It appears to have the screen inverted like the OLED S version that's supposed to make it easier to see.

I'm very interested in having my LCD replaced as it is getting difficult to see and remind me of the original gameboy.

Thanks,
Vince

Viewing angle is definitly better than with the original screen, and the display is much more bright. Everybody seems very happy so far. I still have one not reserved and ready to install, and i have more ordered that will arrive next week

Sorry, i tried multiple options on the oled commander, nothing works. Closest i got was a reverse image with a SSD1309 screen. The SSD1303 screens are discontinued, i contacted multiple sellers and none have them anymore. I've spent crazy money trying different screens/chip but alwaysca no go. I'm not giving up tho, if i find something i know lots of people are gonna be happy!

Plugged 'er in and it fired up perfectly. I don't think I need to post pics...Imagine that one above, but in MY car.

Merci beaucoup Str3atWarrior!

Since a lot of you guys asked for it, i stocked up on blue SMD leds for the buttons. I'll do mine tonight to calculate the time necessary to do a clean OCD job and i'll update the first post with price. I'm figuring around 15$ with labor. I'll alsp post pictures

To properly unsolder the old ones, clean the contacts, and solder the new ones it, it takes me around 30 minutes including cleaning up of the board. It's not a fun thing to do, but after seeing the result, i think it's well worth the effort.

15$ seems like a decent price. If i already did your LCD and would like to have this done, considering the shipping cost, i'll do it for free, just cover the shipping

My commander was dead in the water. I shipped it over to Michael to see if he can fix it and upgrade it. Today he sent me pics of a working upgraded commander with the buttons upgraded to blue leds. Great work!

Amber ones i checked, the pin does not fit. Original green is possible but not really an upgrade. The pictures blurry the real color a lot, the brightness is perfect to me, and you have room for adjustment with the commander's brightness settings. Can anybody else give their advice on thoses that received theirs? I like the look at night

Couple more done, if you got yours and you're happy with the result please share it here! Also guys i'm doing my best to answer to everybody as quick as possible, but it's winter tire season here in quebec, i'm doing crazy overtime at work 12hrs shift, so i may be a little late to answer. I still do one day turnaround, my girlfriend goes to the mail everyday and if i receive your commander i do it right away and ship back next morning!

Thanks neit_jnf. That was my original plan, but unfortunately, my noobness in posts on the forum doesn't seem to allow me to do so. I couldn't find a minimum post count to allow PMs, but it seems one exists, as I do not have PM options when I click on folks' names... Hence my post!

I'm now proud to announce that i can also replace OLED screens! I designed a PCB to allow the use of new screens since the old SSD1303 are discontinued! I've posted the results on my facebook and instagram, feel free to check there for future updates!

Thumbs up

So, I was pointed to this guy by members of this community when my OLED commander began to die and let me tell you he did not disappoint! My commander was basically unusable due to a fading screen when I sent it to him and now it looks better than ever! Craftsmanship aside, what really makes this guy stand out is his communication. He was always super prompt responding to questions and was extremely helpful. His pricing was clear and very fair. All in all a great member of our community who is providing an awesome service! Thanks and keep up the great work.

FYI I think my camera is too fast for the commander. When looking at the commander with the naked eye there are no black spots.

As some of you probably know, i offer replacement service for the green LCD on old version of Apexi Commander. I've done a couple thru facebook sell pages, everybody has been pleased so far. I've included some pictures of the ones i did. I also offer PowerFC repair service, but i'll do another post for this. If i did one of your commander thru Facebook, please leave a comment here to show your appreciation. I've done over 15 of thoses for guys in the US, not counting the ones i did here in quebec.

Pricing, which include shipping back to you in US/Canada is as follow :
140$ USD (Including paypal fees, new screen, and repair or reflowing of wiring if needed) with Expedited Tracked shipping back USPS
If you're from Quebec (Montreal) i can do the service for 150$ canadian (113$ USD), just drop me your Commander and come back in an hour.

Please use USPS for shipping, all the other companies charges me crazy custom fees at the borders. Also don't declare crazy value. I usually declare them as broken electronics with value of 10$ to avoid custom fees. If you want to declare more, that's okay with me but please be ready to pay the fees.

Turnaround is usually less than 24hrs from the moment i get you Commander to the moment i ship it back. I usually grab the packages on my way back from work, and ship them the next morning on my way to work. I test all my work before shipping back. I've got a pretty good reputation on the Quebec RX7 groups, i ain't the kind of guy that is gonna run away or loose my name for money. Everything goes thru Paypal to protect both the buyer and me.

I've got 5 screens available for now, and just ordered an extra 5 more. Let me know if you are interested, and for thoses i already did, please leave a comment once you received your item and you are satisfied with it!

Hey man i have just stumbled upon your thread looking into power fc controller repairs, as my controller has gone almost completely dim and unusable.
I am located is Australia and seeing if it's possible to post to Canada to be repaired at all...?
TIA

Yep he can do it. He gets international shipments all the time. I would get up with him first so he knows it's coming and he can recommend how to ship.
