Commander LCD replacement service
First, i'm not sure if this is allowed on this section of the forum. If not, please let me know, or move it where it belongs. I figured this was the perfect place since it's directly related to the Apexi PowerFC...
As some of you probably know, i offer replacement service for the green LCD on old version of Apexi Commander. I've done a couple thru facebook sell pages, everybody has been pleased so far. I've included some pictures of the ones i did. I also offer PowerFC repair service, but i'll do another post for this. If i did one of your commander thru Facebook, please leave a comment here to show your appreciation. I've done over 15 of thoses for guys in the US, not counting the ones i did here in quebec.
Pricing, which include shipping back to you in US/Canada is as follow :
140$ USD (Including paypal fees, new screen, and repair or reflowing of wiring if needed) with Expedited Tracked shipping back USPS
If you're from Quebec (Montreal) i can do the service for 150$ canadian (113$ USD), just drop me your Commander and come back in an hour.
Please use USPS for shipping, all the other companies charges me crazy custom fees at the borders. Also don't declare crazy value. I usually declare them as broken electronics with value of 10$ to avoid custom fees. If you want to declare more, that's okay with me but please be ready to pay the fees.
Turnaround is usually less than 24hrs from the moment i get you Commander to the moment i ship it back. I usually grab the packages on my way back from work, and ship them the next morning on my way to work. I test all my work before shipping back. I've got a pretty good reputation on the Quebec RX7 groups, i ain't the kind of guy that is gonna run away or loose my name for money. Everything goes thru Paypal to protect both the buyer and me.
I've got 5 screens available for now, and just ordered an extra 5 more. Let me know if you are interested, and for thoses i already did, please leave a comment once you received your item and you are satisfied with it!

Also guys, please be honest if you already tried to do yours or if somebody tried but failed. I included pictures of one of the commander i bought from a guy, supposely not working but did not know why... I ended up being able to fix it, but would've been great if the guy told me from the start!

Not sure i would recommand this due to the added stress on the solder pads. I've never experienced button shaking on mine, or maybe i never noticed... Now i'll have to look at this... I do know that the replacement screen is just a tad more thick, maybe that's why... I'l have to measure an original one VS the ones i install to see...

Funny you ask, this is what i was trying yesterday. Found on a russian forum, works for a coffee machine that uses the same display as us. Unfortunately doesn't work for the commander. I wrote to the guy that wrote the code, to see if he can adapt it for us.
I tried about 10 different screens and board, none seems to work l. SSD1303 are discontinued, i currently have a SSD1309 soldered in place with the mirrored image symptom

Thanks for the kind words! I try to do my best to answer fast, and i try to do them as soon as i get them! Of course if i get 3 at the same time there might be a slight delay, but this never happened yet. I'm also a father of three, so some life events may occur and slight delay in communication may occur, but i try do be as professionnal as possible

Sorry if this is a stupid or repetitive question. I'm definitely interested in replacing my quickly-fading PFC unit monitor though.
I send 140 and my commander to you (from California), and I get it back in a week or so with a new screen?

Also, here is why i suggest not declaring crazy value when shipping to me. Customer declared 350usd value, which turned out with 79.46cad in custom fees, which is shy of 60usd... Customer was cool about it, i even offered to cover part of it but he didn't wanted to, said it was his fault and he was cool to cover it.
I suggest to declare 20$ usd value and broken commander as description, to avoid any fees. When i ship back, i declare as non-repairable commander and 20$ value

*Bump*
My Commander is on it's way with a 20 dollar declared value...which might be not much less than it's actually worth because the old screen is only legible for about 5 min, then it fades into gray.
Anyway, it oughtta be there in a day or two. Thanks!
