Power FC Chuck Westbrook PFC seminar... Highly recommended!

hurry up!
Hurry up and make that DVD. I'll be first in line to buy it
Here are my 2 cents about why I recommend Chuck and future DVD(s) that I'm working on from Chuck Westbrook seminar.
Like anyone (including so called professional tuners) who tune PFC, started from somewhere.. We don't just born and start tuning.... we learn by following..
1. trial and error - Like science, you give it a shot and see what happens and learn from your mistakes. Some gets lucky and get it right first time and others are dumb luck'd and never learn after many attempts.. Just because some having ton of experience tuning other's cars doesn't mean they are better than others.. Its the approach they take and how scientific they are (Hence why I like and trust Chuck Westbrook... as I'm in the field of science).
2. Research - There are tons of information about tuning on this forum, datalogit message board, etc etc.... Problem is, there are also ton of shitty advices and just plain ton of crap that you have to filter thru to learn. This will take time and most of us on here are lazy and want quick answers to TON of POWAa! Just look at this PFC subforum.. Yikes!!
These two reasons above is why I recommend Chuck... because you know he's qualified (owned an FD since 92 and playing w/ PFC since coming to America) and his notes summarizes the crap load of info about tuning into one nice organized packet.
And when the DVD is ready, you could hear from the master himself (Chuck) and questions asked by some of the veteran FD owners around SE.
Combination of two, you could either get off your *** and try to learn how to tune, or hire so called, "professional" tuners and make sure they are tuning to your expectation! But without not knowing how it works and just spitting out how some Tuners are fantastic because it made power on the dyno is like me not knowing a damn thing about a wine and saying how good a $2 wine from CA, because its Red.
So, GO BUY chuck's notes and when the DVD's ready, buy that and start learning more about tuning!

LOL! I've been busy since the seminar and I think i'll have sunday off.. I'll work on it a little then.
I say it will be ready in next 2-3 weeks (I have 5 hours worth of stuff to go thru).
Also, those who purchase the tape, you could take part in our discussion forum @ www.MRCCAL.com
There is a hidden subforum dedicated to PFC tuning... If Chuck allows, I'll open that particular sub-forums to those who purchased a copy of chuck's notes NOW!

Ya either mean Kevin or Mike. Probably Kevin, I suspect. How was the tune "half-***"? Did you know that that was the same day I had to drive back home 10 hours, of which I incurred an extra hotel night expense because I stayed late to continue to complete Kevin's car for a few more hours?
I said it was a "waste of money?" When and how did I say that?
Nope. Haven't purchased one. Why is this an issue? It never has been before; not once.
How'd it blow up? What exactly happened?
Stupid things I've done? You still want to get me back for defending Jason against your absurd and abusive comments, don't you?

Met up with Brian Cain at BNR's shop about 9pm, we went to get dinner, and then went to borrow a datalogit from someone Brian Nickel had loaned his to. Brian Cain express that he did not think the datalogit was worth the $200+ dollars for just a "white box and some wires" He stayed overnight at my home, The following day, Brian BDC, and I got off to a late start We drove to BNR's shop where my car was, around 1pm, and did have some issues preventing him to tune with my Profec S. We then used a manual boost controller to control boost and was able to resume tuning. This cost probably an extra hour of time in the beginning.
We were not able to run/tune for more then 1.05kg/cm2 boost due to fuel cut. Brian Cain had no idea why we were experiencing fuel cut. I had no idea either, the following day I started searching on the forum and found out the PFC does cut fuel if it reads .25 kg/cm2 over the set boost level.
The boost level was set in the PFC to .8 on the primary and secondary.
I was not satisfied that someone who charges for PFC tuning:
Did not own a major tool required to tune the PFC.
Did not have a good working wideband. It kept reading incorrectly some of the time.
Did not realize that the PFC will cut fuel if it reads .25 kg/cm2 over the set boost level.

I was satisfied that my car was
now drivable and seem to have the most amount of power I have ever felt.

He finished around 6pm
Did BDC's tuning of my car cause my motor to blow 3,000 miles after tuned?
I don’t know. There are many factors that will affect how a motor runs and it could have blown for a multitude of reasons. I don't blame anyone. I am just learning as I go.

Thank you Chuck for coming to B’ham the class was very informative and helped me understand more on the PFC.

I sell my notes package alone.
Phil is working on editing the film of the class, which might be offerd on a DVD along with my notes. This will take a while as Phil is a busy person.

If you want to buy Chucks Notes, please contact Mr. Westbrook via PM... his SN is: cewrx7r1
Again, his notes are VERY informative!!
Chuck, I am so sorry about the delay but recently I've been very busy selling my car (Acura) and trying to keep up with my work load. I have few minutes at work but not enough time to edit videos
I'm also having little bit of family issues and I have to make few trips. I'll do my best but it will be few more weeks.
Those who's waiting on the video, please be patient!

I guess I jump into this to, since it has my name on it. Here is how the BDC street tuning went.

As I gain more experience, and with the helpful advice advice of others, I hope to be able to tune my own car safely.

Just read the post and sent Chuck a pm for notes.
What was stated earlier about how a max power tune vs. street tune makes a lot of sence. I am in the process of needing a base tune. I wondered about this as I read peoples post on tunes that the have gotten. I was going to try and have Steve tune my car when I am ready and he is out in CA. I looked over his web site and it seems that he offers both type of tunes.
With this info a person can still have a "pro" tine the car and have a greater idea of what is going on. At the same time a person can give the tuner a better idea of what goes on when driving the car and help the tuner tune the car to the customer liking.
I will spen more time in this forum to learn. Question, were can I get a datalogic,
and is there and updated version? Thought I read something about this about a year ago. Maybe an alterative to datalogic?

I recommend that you get it from RX7.Com (they are one of our Forum Vender's: Rotary Performance - RX7.com). You'll get it much much quicker then if you were to buy it directly.

Well, I've contacted FC-datalogit trying to do a GB and they said I have to contact RX7.com
I guess they have monopoly on datalogit here in USA.. Dang!
def3, You are right about what you said. Chuck's notes will only educate you regarding tuning PFCs. I think most people on this forum lack the basic knowledge about PFCs and trusts too much on so called tuners.. Also remember that basics about tuning is very similar between other standalone ecus...
When you buy Chuck's notes, you will get upto date info for FREE!
Also, I'm trying to get an idea if anyone else might be interested in Chuck's seminar in the near future..

Chuck Westbrook is one of the guys that have paved the way for keeping our rotaries accurately tuned and as dependable as possible! Most of us have read many threads on the Forum where Chuck has helped countless new rotorheads, including myself, with PFC problems. I have his notes and refer to them often (he keeps adding and updating them).
Thanks Chuck!
