A Christmas present for you guys

I have spent the last couple of days comparing PFC maps to try and help myself better understand the tuning process. Excel is nice for doing this, but it's still too much work, and it doesn't show me what I want to know. So, I decided to make my computer do the hard work for me (that's what computers are for, right?)

If you are interested in viewing and comparing PFC maps, please visit www.exorzero.com/skotx/powerfc to see what I have been working on. I need you guys' help to make this tool as useful as possible, so I welcome your comments. Let's call it a beta for now, as I still need to work out a few things... like what pressure values to display, as well as getting the rest of the maps uploaded.

I hope this tool can be as useful to you guys as it has been for me. Happy Holidays!

-Scott

By the way, I developed this in IE and didn't bother to make it cross-browser compatible, so it probably looks like junk in Netscape.

Thanks for the X-mas gift. Pretty neat stuff comparing the maps like that. Change N7,p6 to 28 instead of 38 in the IGT map. I've tried to get Jason to make that change in the map posted as well as the fact I have the M2 med IC as well, and still runs on the rich side.

Thanks for the time and effort to do this for us,

Tim Benton

Tim, glad you like the site. I made the change to the IGT map. I thought that number looked a little fishy. I could change your mods to show the M2 IC, but I was just curious... was the map tuned with the M2 or the PFS? I guess it's not really that big of a deal. By the way, thanks for your map. I'm using it in my PFC. :1party:

Sorry about that. My friend is hosting this for me and I guess his server died. Can't get in touch with him because of the holidays.

For the time being, use http://24.251.248.185. This is coming off my cable modem, so I'll try not to reboot my machine.

it was tuned for the PFS IC. When I switched to the M2 med, I did notice that my O2 readings dropped just a tad, from being real rich, to a tad rich. 1.05 to 1.07 down to .99 or so. I then tuned some fuel out in the WOT cells that brought it down to .95ish. I guess the M2 med is more efficient at cooling down the charge air than the slightly smaller PFS IC.

Two questions for you...

1) When people compare O2 voltage readings is this at WOT? Is high 80s, low 90s desirable?

2) If people think my site is useful and I continue to support it, should I update maps as people tweak them, or add additional maps? For instance, if you were to send me your changes (feel free to, btw) should I create a TimBenton2 or overwrite your existing one? I think I like the idea of having them both up there since they're for different mods, and we could compare what changes you made to support the new IC. I could even include your opinions on how the car runs with the particular map in the Notes section. Don't mind me, I'm just thinking out loud.

Hey, I like what you've done.. but I have a request, can you set somthing up so you can compare IGL and IGT to each other in the same maps, so we will be able to see the timing split... you could have it show when you view the individual map, just have it show the splits in a new set of cell blocks below the map or somthing...

Thanks...
Chris

Yep, whenever someone is talking about their O2 sensor reading it should be at WOT, otherwise its in closed loop in lean run condition and any value would be worthless since its jumping around all the time from rich to lean etc. And although its not the ideal way to tune any ecu, you can try to hit around .86 or higher and should be on the safe side. I'm going to go get my tuned and try to have a comparison of the wideband and the stock unit so we can see what a .86 or .88 is compared to a wideband reading or vice versa. is .86 lean to still a tad too rich type thing.
As far as the maps go, your current system of detailing what mods are on the car and the maps that go with it is fine. So having a Tim 2 with the M2 med IC and changes I've made to the fuel and timing and then be able to compare them to my old PFS IC maps would be nice.

I think I know what you mean. Show something like IGL/IGT...

4/8
15/0
21/0

so you don't have to keep going back and forth comparing cells. That's a good idea. It might get a little cluttered, but I'll play around with it. Should that replace the current Split table or be a new one? I could still highlight the negative split areas, I just wonder if people like to see the split at a glance how it is now. I don't want to go overboard with the amount of info on the screen.

hey tim,
how did you get the M2 IC to work with the efini y-pipe? or did you just pull it out and use the original?

How about making it so it would display just the values in one map, instead of having to compare two maps. Or does it already do this and I just didn't see how?

I think I know what you're suggesting. Instead of showing the differences between two map, show both values from the maps and the user can do their own subtraction. I think that would get a bit crowded when you get into three digits (e.g. 121/123). It would be nice to see though because you would then know what value to enter into the Commander, so you just print one set of maps. I'll play around with it.
