Power FC Caution!

Caution!
Do not use the ignition maps for the TO4S... I actually set it up a couple deg. less on the top end and got 1 and 1/2 runs out of it... I now have no compression on the front rotor... Looks like it's time for a full bridge..

Man that sucks ***. What kind of knock number did you see when the front rotor went POOF? Was it do to knock (pre-ignition), to lean of a mixture, timing advanced to much?

I didn't get to see the knock #, but it was showing consistant 100-140's on the way home running on one rotor... It was definitly Ignition, to much timing advance... I've got plenty of fuel..

I haven't looked at the map for the To4 since I don't have that setup but how does it compare to the stock maps? Hey Scott's new site can do that Was this a map you got straight from XS or the posted one?
Man, that still sucks about the engine.

The one that was posted... don't use the fuel map either, it is obvious that that computer has a rewritten base map, I was just going to try the ig map, but was still using my fuel map when she died... No compression on the entire front rotor, but I have every thing to build a new engine , just no time rignt now...

Unfortunately, just like everyone else I can't get to the maps on the board. I'm really hesitant about putting that one up, but I guess it would be interesting for comparison purposes. I'll put big warnings on it and maybe explain how XS tunes their maps differently, to help the newbies.

You might want to replace the PFC while you rebuild your engine. You and I have the T88 set up, right? Also using the 1600cc injector kit? Time to go Haltech or something. Better cold starts then blown motors. The PFC's are better off with the smaller turbo set ups and twin turbo's, but you probably know that now. How many engines has it been for you? It's been 3 for me. The PFC is out the door. A friend of mine took it off my hands, he's got a twin turbo set up. That's probably the best thing I've ever done.

If they ever start selling the data logging stuff it would help greatly... It's hard to tune a rotory espicially with tons of mods on the street, it's all trial and error, the error part get's expensive and time consuming....
But it's a good excuse to put in a Bridge port...
O' I'm running a To4R...

BONER! The TO4R is from HKS? Aren't there power excel dealers everywhere in Japan. I have all the latest Jap magazines, option. Rx7 magazine, etc. There are hundreds of power excel/Apexi PFC tuners around every block. Can't you get maps from them. Then you can relay us some info. The power excel dealers in the states know doo doo (absolutely nothing). Some of the tuners have japanese as a second language. How do they expect to tune, if they can't even read the microsoft word instructions in japanese?

I'm in Okinawa, Not mainland Japan, there is one power excell dealer here and they suck... You guys probably have it made better than me.. O' and Japanese have never heard of an injecter over 1000cc's every shop I've been too tells me I'm lying when I tell them I have 1,600cc injectors, they always say nobody makes injectors that big...

Sucks about your engine though, sorry to hear that. Before i had XS tune my PFC I ran those maps posted above (you know they are not from XS, right?), as I was entering them in I noticed that they seemed very agressive so I used one of Chucks Ignition maps instead. I guess it was a good idea.

You think using the ign from one map and fuel from another is what caused the prob? The ign and fuel have a delicate relationship together. The fuel map and ign map you were using were not tuned for eachother.
I havent seen either map, I'm just saying that its possible.
Oh yea, if 1000cc is the biggest in Japan what do they do? They must add more injectors or something?
Later,
STEPHEN
