I'm on XP Pro on a Toshiba. Seemed so much easier on my 4 year old laptop RIP...

Both of my FDs have been much more reliable than the e36 BMW they replaced. And it doesn't depreciate like the BMW either.
Its more of a weekend car, but yes I do depend that it starts and drives which it does 99.99999% of the time. Especially if I keep it away from most Rotary shops who think they know how to work on cars.

Its the IO one. I tried downloading it but the Found New Hardware wizard wasn't able to use the downloaded drivers for some reason. It doesn't install by itself either as the IO one requires a CD to install.
In my frustration last night I unchecked the checkbox on the Hardware wizard prompting to install and now I can't even get the Hardware wizard to do its thing. Tried to get it going manually last night and couldn't get it to work. Going to try it again tonight with a hopefully clearer head....

I was having trouble with My IOgear one..Turns out the Usb port # was higher than 8...Go into hardware monitor and see if your usb-serial cable is there...When u see it right click it and change the port # to a port # that isn't beening used. If your not sure how to do this just say so and I'll take you thru step by step.

Nashman you rock!! Really appreciate the very useful info and the trouble you went through. Hopefully it'll help others out also in the future.
I finally got everything working. Bought a DYNEX USB PDA/Serial Adapter at Best Buy for $35. It came with its own CD for drivers. I'm uploading these drivers for anyone who might want to try them in the future.
I put in the CD, connected the USB cable which was connected to DL box, turned key on, went through Found New Hardware wizard, pointed it to the CD, finally installed the drivers!!!
I tried to run DL and it gave me an error about COM 8 so I changed the COM port on DL to 8 and voila!
Re-installed my Steve Kan map and everything is good to go. Took her out for a spin and life is good again.

If anything sounds unclear let me know and I'll try to clarify.
I always try to help anyway I can :icon-tup: ...Maybe a Mod can sticky this for future referance or DaleClark can add this to his PowerFC info.

well i change com ports and either get depending if i do read or read all interface not responding and if i do read all i get interface not responding and error 76. im using a radio shack serial to usb convertor. below is the driver for the cable im using. i can get it to not have any error messages but when i click read it just flashes the screen and the defalt map is still intact. why can i not read my current map??? i even tried starting the car as is with the pfc installed and it will not fire. could the pfc be fried? i have spark so im hoping that the pfc is fine. i was going to try tomorrow putting in the stocker and seeing if it would start up. any recommendations? thank you for anything you can do here.

IfI read your post correctly, I got the same before I gave up and tried a new USB kit so I could get a new driver. Did you try installing the driver's I uploaded? Might want to give it a shot.
Once I got those drivers loaded all I had to do was change the port and I was good to go. I think I might have used COM 8 or 9 on my machine but yours might be different.
Hope that helps. Took me a few days to get it working right.

hey I'm having this problem I got a serial to usb from radio shack and it will interface with the datalogit but only to tell me what version datalogit I'm using. When I try to make it "read all" it tells me "interface not responding"?
