Buying a powerfc

Hi,

Two questions:

I'm looking at getting rid of a Microtech LT-10 from my car and replacing it with a PowerFC - main reason is that I'm burning alot of fuel. I've tried to get it tuned but is still terrible - 6KM a litre or thereabouts Thoughts on getting a powerFC for this purpose?

And if I was to purchase a powerFC is the following model correct for my car?

RX7 Series 7 1997

Engine: RE02
Displacement: 13B
Grade: TYPE-RB
Special Edition: BATHURST
Model-Spec: F132-11X
VIN: FD3S-405...

http://jappartsspecialist.com/produc...roducts_id=198

"APEXi POWER FC + COMMANDER for Mazda RX7 FD3S 4 13B Engine Twin Turbo 1995 DEC - 1998 DEC"

(Item no: 414Z005)

I read the FAQ (https://www.rx7club.com/power-fc-forum-47/new-version-powerfc-faq-573647/) and mentions the serial number typically is:

PFC FD3Sx 0000-0000

However I don't have any number at the x which would make it FD3S 95-98 and an "old version" (FD3S - 96-98 RX-7 old version). Someone told me that for my car I need to get a series 8 powerFC to fit my solenoids and that there are only two types of powerFCs for series6+?

Note that Australian s7 are not the same as the s7 in japan.
Australian s7 uses the 8bit harness, therefore you will need to buy the pfc for the 93-95 (fd3s4)
IF on the other hand, your car is an import from japan you will need to get a fd3s5 or fd3s6(16bit). both will work even though the fd3s6 is for the 99-2002

if you dont know if you car is the australian s7 or the japanese s7, theres a very easy way to figure it out.

i have a second hand fd3s5 without the commander for sale if you are interested

Thankyou for your response.

Car is a Japanese import not Australian delivered. I was told there are two types of pfcs, series 6 and others for series 8 and also is for series 7. I guess that statement is based on 8bit vs 16bit?

I was just in Cyprus (Limassol).

I will see if I need the commander.
