AP engineering PFC questions for FC3S

Well basically I bought an AP engineering PFC and was told an FD map sensor would work with it but after searching and talking through PMs with a few people I've found out that doesnt work. So I'm searching for temporary solutions to get my car running with the PFC so I can tune while I put an order in for the adapter harnesses if I still need them.

From what I have been told I need the Apexi 3 bar map sensor from the boost control kit and also an adaptor harness from AP which plugs into the AFM connector after the AFM is removed. I'm also told I'll need an FD air intake sensor and an adapter harness (I'll most likely make that as well) but I think this is pertitent to getting the car running correctly so I'm less concerned with this.

Anyways, the S5 AFM only has 5 wires on its connector and 2 of them are grounds (the same ground infact just split) and the map sensor off of my AVCR (assuming the boost control map sensor is the same) has 3 wires also. (pictures below)

Assuming this adapter harness is only wires and does not include any resistors or anything strange like that I'm going to be attempting to make my own adaptor harness after I trace the AFM wires to the ECU and see what their inputs are. AVCR pressure sensor has 3 wires and the AFM connector has 3 wires (plug 2 extra gounds). Does it seem plausible it could work if I found out which wire goes to which input? Any thoughts on this?

Now for the questions

1)Is the map sensor from the PFC boost control kit the same map sensor as the one from the AVCR unit?

Here is a pic (not sure if it will help though) of my AVCR pressure sensor

2)Here is a picture from ebay for an AP engineering PFC for FC3S that includes the map sensor as well as what looks like an adapter harness (or possibly stock FD harness?)

The problem is that an S5 AFM connector looks like this and I see no way for it to adapt

So does anybody know if that adapter harness is the correct one or not?

Sorry about the long post and all the questions. Just trying to get everything straight. Hope everything made sense.

Thanks in advance guys.

That adapter harness was bugging the hell out of me last night and it occurred to me that it looks like that connector would plug into the stock pressure sensor. Perhaps I was told wrong assuming this is the correct harness?

Success!

I ended up making my own adapter harness and it works well so far. At least it is driveable now with the base map. Still need to get the FD air intake temp sensor though since the commander is reading air temp as -20*C with the stock FC3S sensor!

If anybody is interested for future reference:

1) you can make your own adapter harness very easily
2) an FD map sensor does work as long as you select it in the PIM function
3) the FD map sensor with the adapter harness connects to the stock harness connector for the S5 oem pressure sensor
4) you will need an FD air intake sensor
5) I believe you'll need to make an adapter harness for the FD air intake sensor as well (cant say for sure since I havent seen an FD sensor yet)
6) for my version of the AP PFC (djethro) it allows you to ditch the AFM (airflow meter)

Thanks to Dynamite Kid and Vosko for all their help and info. Looks like there's gonna be another FC with an AP engineering PFC running around.

thanks for reasuring me that I wasnt crazy. Been hunting all over the damn place for info on the AP engineering model and everyone almost had me convinced I needed some weird harness that went to the boost port on the PFC. I got everything you have (the little cable for the stock pressure sensor, fd water temp sensor, and stock fd sensor). Once I changed the PIM it fired up nicely (thanks on that cause I almost missed it). Now on to find a good base map to start with (cause I dont know **** about timing).

Anyone got a good base map for an FC3S? Basically bone stock, just a big straight through 3" exhuast. (no cat or silencers)

i have the basemap as a picture, dont have datalogit.. im sorry

if you want to start with basemaps, why dont you just initialize your PFC? you will get basemaps in ignition and fuel correction.

I initialized and the base map in the AP engineering model is garbage. WAAAAAAAY too lean. Timing was all jacked up too with a few areas having a -5 spark gap and other areas having a huge gap (trailing damn near firing 60 abdc). Using research, some educated guess work, and lots of logging, I finnally got my car where it drives great. Now for the tweaking. When I'm done with the map I will post it up. Seems like there is ZERO support for FC3S PFC tuning.

So now I have a new question. With out a boost controller how can you tune the PFC to regulate boost? I hit 1.11 with the fuel cut. I'm going to lower the fuel cut for safety, but how do I keep it from hitting the fuel cut without a boost controller? Will adjusting the duty cycle fix it as there is no control solenoid?

lowered the duty to 5 with no change. I know it can be done but how? anyone? My old ecu (knight sports) held the boost at .7 with no controller. only thing different now is a) ecu b) map sensor c) no maf. logic says ecu. so how do I do it?

anyone? without porting the wastegate on the stock turbo, how do I lower the boost safely? Im going to attempt using a MBC to do it today like I did on my td06 powered silvia. Silvia would boost 1.5 naturally (strong spring) and I used the MBC to turn boost down. Would the same work here? Im not even sure why that worked on the silvia

thought about it and I know why it worked on the silvia. wont work here. n dont know why i didnt notice before, but i dont have a stock boost sol. so adjusting the pfc wouldnt change a thing.

anyhow f*ck it. if I gotta take off that turbo, Im slapping on the T04e that is sitting in the garage. just got a few more parts to collect before I'm ready for it.

I'll start a thread soon on my build, step by step style. Including the LC-1 install which seems to be killing some people (was me too for a bit). I want to rewire the rats nest in the car that the previous owner left me so it'll be from scratch again. Figure, since no one around here responds (for FC3S threads) and tracking down info round here is a pain in the ****. Might as well make life simpler by a picture step by step on what I did (minus tuning, I'll provide the base map I created, after I redo the math so its set up stock style eg base map set to 14.xx and correction map to actual)

btw
