I have it on paper but he may have a mechanical problem, maybe . Check if the cruise control cable is holding it open ,if it has cruise . See if the pri sec bump adjustment screws are backed off enough .Look for a vacuum leak ,ect . I should have the little book that came with the unit and someones write up on tuning .Most of the cars that come to me with high idle are on need of mechanical adjustment .

we believe it may be due to the idle air control valve sticking, but we're not sure

Chuck Westbrook (cewrx7r1 I believe) made one and I also made one. I'm not sure where to find his, but mine is at:

(My domain is no longer valid, so you need to do it by IP address for now)

I'm the friend. No cable is holding it, its not mechanical as the butterflies are all closed when its idleing high. Its sucking air through the aic's hole infront of the butterflies.

This weekend i took the upper intake manifold off to replace my air intake sensor (as the suggestion of a friend). I replaced it with a known good sensor, and while i had it off, i checked the iac's solonoids and they are working and not getting stuck.

So something is telling my iac's to stay wide open causing my car to idle high...
