Their water and oil temperature gauges are almost the same, but slightly redder because they are slightly brighter (still barely a noticeable difference really). fyi -- i think the VDO Vision Chrome rings are too thick to match the stock gauges IMO.
The same red cover on the small bulb that comes with the dual EGT is insufficient to light the center of the gauge. Also, because the needles are not internally lit, you probably could not read their position at night... ...so I'm thinking maybe a slightly brighter bulb or a colored LED?

I've got a question...how do you use the clamp adaptors? Drill dimensions, etc...I've never seen/heard of this before.
And for those who are on the fence about this product...this is everything you get for $233.10

We just include all the possible pieces of the puzzle, so your options are open. Don't worry if you have pieces left over. The only important thing is that the probes are securely mounted, however you accomplish it. Some people just weld the adaptor to the manifold, so they don't even need to tap the threads.
It helps greatly to have the manifold off the engine, so you can see from the port-side how the probes sit. You obviously want them to be centered in the exhaust flow, equal-distance from the port face, or as closely as you can get it.

Sales have tapered off a bit recently, but that could have something to do with it being the end of the month. I will keep this going through the beginning of October, at least, if not all the way to Sevenstock (end of October). There is still a deposit option for those who want to lock-in the GB pricing but need more time to get the funds together. A $50 non-refundable deposit will buy you 60 days to pay off the balance. If you, for whatever reason, can't go through with it, I will allow you to apply the refund towards another purchase from us of $50 or more in that same time-frame (60 days).
As always, deposits or full payments can be Paypal'd to <sales@pineappleracing.com> or you can call us with payment info at 503-233-3878.

If you want to chance it, I can sell you whatever you want. I just don't have any feedback yet upon which to make a recommendation. As for replacement clear backlights, you can find them just about anywhere. Look for a 9U (9mm) bayonet base bulb...basically a common flashlight bulb.

The shop installed the red LED Blake sent and it is a match in color and brightness to a VDO white bulb covered with a red skin. Both of which are slightly redder than stock amber. I wish I had the opportunity to try an amber lamp (not yellow) just for comparison (I found on another gauge you can exactly match the stock amber by using a regular blade lamp with red skin; I don't recall which/what bulb that was, sorry).
I drove about 300 miles in the dark with it. Honestly, the gauge is easy enough to see but spotting the un-lit white needle in the dark takes a second of concentration-- there's not much you can do about that. I'd definitely recommend the red LED over the original bulb+red skin.

I'd rank it right up there with water/oil temp and boost gauge as far as usefulness, importance, and convenience. I also have a Innovate LC-1 wb02 + XD-1 AFR gauge; that one reacts instantaneously (I could program it to be more average), the EGT makes an excellent compliment. The EGT is more convenient because you can occasionally glance at it whereas the AFR is more a tuning and "alarm" which you have to catch as it happens.

I sent the previous LED bulb directly to the shop doing your installation...PM me your address and I can send the other bulbs to you personally, if you want to do the experimentation yourself.

The Group Buy is still chugging along. It seems that for every new page, an update on the details helps avoid the usual questions being raised. Normal retail is $250 for the gauge kit, which includes the gauge itself, the wiring and the Inconel probes. The group buy price is $225 plus $8.10 shipping in the USA ($233.10 total). Payments may be made in the following manners:
Paypal: <sales@pineappleracing.com>
Phone-in CC: 503-233-3878
Online: Pineapple Racing Online Store
If you order through the online store, the price does not reflect the discount, but if you have declared that you are part of the group buy PRIOR TO ORDERING, in this thread, the discount will be applied before the payment is processed...or if you use the Payapal payment through the web site, a $25 refund will be made. The one critical thing is to identify yourself here before placing the order, so we know you get the special price.
