well it obviously fits in the FC and FD because i have seen in several times in both. FB is mostly likely out of the question though.

But that is one heavy *** engine...and one real light car....

Take the stock twins on the 2J and it's not as heavy of a motor as you'd think.

:]

Personally, I'm not a big fan of any V8. I have alot of respect for high horsepower Corvettes, GTO's, (more Chevy than Ford, rly)...But, I just don't care for V8's in my own car is all.

I should have saved the picture, but if you do enough forum-finding, there should be pictures showing the actual weight of a 13B-REW and a 2JZ-GTE at least with stock twins.

Like I said though, stock twins are a HUGE weight....it's similar to FD's in the aspect of by going single-turbo, you get rid of SO much crap, and simplify the engine bay.

I remember about a Story of this rx7:

Didnt they have that big problems with the handling that they now only use the car as a showcar?

the oilpan sump location interferes with the steering rack on the FD with a Supra motor so you need to lower the steering rack a lot and that leads to major headaches in the handling department.

LS1 ftw.

It's all about the motor mounts, buddy.

I've seen a GTO with two, what looked like Apexi RX6 (Small Turbos) one on either side of the DP before the Y, and got him another 200+ HP, plus the "Woosh" sound so many people "Miss" with almost supercharger type lag performance... ....

I belive this was mentioned allready,
The V6 RB26 I belive is a poplular swap, with turbo etc...

So is there a way to get the 2jz running good in a rex? I didnt see anything yet.

And what do u mean with motor mounts? Do u want to put the engine higher with them? When yes, dont u have then probs with the hood?

And another question, why do the people dont modify the oil pan with an extern oil tank or something like that?

Pro's and Con's man.

The lower the motor sits, the higher the possibility of running into issues with clearance of the steering rack, or a down-pipe, or whatever else.

If it sits TOO high, then you have hood clearance issues.

My understanding, based on Tech2's representatives and what they ADVERTISE, is that the kit sits the engine as far back and as low as possible as not to have any clearance issues except for the hood. Even that is still kind of a gray area, becasue they don't exactly show how bad it is, or if it can be fixed by doing "this" or "that".

To me, it's no biggie. The Scoot Hood is my favorite anyways, so being told I "should" get one, or I "have" to get one because of clearance doesn't bother me. Maybe to someone else, but not to me.

My kit came on last Friday to my brother's shop where they are going to be doing all the installation, but they're not going to actually start tearing apart the car until I've got the motor, tranny, and whatever other necessary parts for install. Even then, I'm modifying the the motor, so it makes the most sense to keep it on an engine stand and play with it there, BEFORE putting it in the car.

I've been posting updates on the 2J swap thread, so if anyone cares, just keep up with that thread to see how my progress is going.

Yah. They repeatedly say that it won't have any clearance issues, but that they "recommend" using a raised hood, such as the Scoot Hood.

I won't know just how well the kit works for a while, because I've still got to purchase a motor and transmission, etc.

I'll be keeping all RX-7 enthusiast forums informed as to the quality of parts, and anything worth noting regarding installation, modification, etc.
