Putting a S13 or S14 KA24DE in a FC....

first of all, would the engine even fit?

second, other than motor mounts, what other fabrication would have to happen for it to fit?

and third, any estimates on the price of the swap?

less flaming and more help please....i wanna put something cheap and torquey and less "high maintenance" than a 13b....

well if your going to put a nissan motor in you fc why dont you go with a s13 or s13 SR20DET or even a RB26 (skyline motor) in it, cause the ka24 motors are pretty weak SR's or RB's are way better. it seems like there would be a lot of fabrication but anything is possible

buy a 240, its a lot cheaper and a lot easier than swapping the ka into an rx7

But, theres always a but...... Why the KA24? I would at least go with a CA18 turbo, or SR20DET, either is a better choice... more parts avilable, better engine to start with.
buy a half cut I think they ar less than 3K could be wrong research that one yourself but it would include all of the wiring, ecu etc. the fab up motor mounts and tranny mounts and your done....
edit" foprgot, driveshaft needs to be made, maybe 300ish?

kenn

also somebody is going to say it sooneer or later this should be in other conversions seciton, not here.

RB20 that biatch of your on the cheap. You can get a good RB20 cheaper than a sr20 nowadays.

i picked the ka24 because its cheap....a good friend of mine used to get sr20s for just freight costs from his sponsor back when he was in AZ but thats not happening anymore...

and ka24s arent bad....i know of a guy that has a ka thats semi built and it beats modded sr20s......ideally, i wanna put a ca18 in it.....more reliable than a sr20, practically bulletproof....its a baby rb26 for gods sake...

but if i can get a ka24de with a tranny and everything for like 500 bucks or less, guess which option im going with....

how many fcs do you see with a KA24DE-T.......dare to be different.....im not looking for huge horsepower numbers....

i'd go with a ka24de-T. cheap, good lowend, and can handle from what i've heard up to 400+hp, for the price of a rb/sr u could built up a blown KA and be good for some solid hp numbers too...and u dont have to buy any JDMM engines or w/e. but i do like the RB and SR engines so its up to you good luck!

By the time you pay to have parts fabbed for the swap you could have bought 2 or 3 240's with ka24's... so why spend that kind of cash on doing this to an rx7? Your taking the soul of the car for what? I can understand a V8 swap but a low powered 4 cylinder. Your car but I think its a pretty bad idea. 240SX = $2,000-$4,000. A KA24 RX7= probably $4,500 or more just for the parts, then if you pay another shop to do the work probably even more

no it dont **** me off and i understand you want to be different but the results that your going to get out of that is going to be a waist of your money if you want to be different get a 240 and drop a skyline engine in it with the drive train and have your self a all wheel drive 240 because droping a nissan motor in a mazda is not worth it i love nismo and i love mazda but i would never swap the two your not going to get good power or response out of it like you want trust me

Why cant you guys find a rotary workshop that can build reliable high power rotors?? or is it the lack of tuning ability?? high maintenance?!?!? what letting the thing warm up and cool down and changing oil every 5000km is high maintenance??

Basically popping th hood in America is high maintance for most people. And there are ver very few tuners that tune rotarys in the states that are easily accessible to the majority of owners.

To save it ill trade you my 89 coupe. Its my baby but thats a GTUs and are way rarer than my 2tone. It has swapped ka24de(this isnt my rb20 coupe BTW) 5spd nexen tires and other goodies. you just have to rebuild the motor. Ive done all the machine work porting, big cams, so on and so forth.

Well if you can't figure out whats wrong with the engine in it now when its a fuel problem i cant wait until your timing chain guide goes bad and your lifters start ticking since most KAs especially cheap ones are as abused as 13Bs are. Then you're not gonna' have anyone wanna look at it because it's a nissan in a mazda. Mazda people will hate you and the nissan people will think you are a retard.

If you wait it out you can sell a GTUs fairly easy. If you don't want to wait have someone fix it. Have you asked for help with your current engine yet?

the closest place to me other than a dealership to work on rotaries is a place called McNair Performance....and they charge more than the dealership does to even look at my car....

I vote ka24-t it has great potential, the ca18 is a cheap ****, the sr20 is overratted in my opinion the ka24 has made plenty of 600-700 hp engines, and its a cheaper starting block.

KA24DE, Tubular manifold, 72lb injectors, t3/t04e turbo, ecu tune, safc, setup...

this is obviously a FB, however the swap cost me 1200 bucks. (i already had the motor/tranny) car is setup for 400+whp, AND RUNS NOW....so its do able ect, and doesnt cost alot of $$$ if you are half of anybody and can do some of your own leg work...

however the car is back down since its having a cage installed and an 8" rear end with 240sx coilovers...fabbing is my friend.

I remember posting, that everyone thinks you are a bad man for thinking this, so you shouldn't do it.

Oh wait, i didnt say anything like that, therefore i am puzzled as to why you're telling me you don't care what anyone thinks about you.

I'm just saying there aren't a bunch of KA RX-7 people out there to help you out, and if you can't figure out your fuel problem i dont know why you're trying to do an engine swap. Especially if this is your daily. If you're swapping in an engine for more power you're gonna' be better off with an LS-1. But if you want a truck motor in an RX-7 be my guest, you aren't heading in the right direction though.
