What a dumbass comment, and you obviously know not a damn thing about the 4g63. ANYBODY who does knows that when you do a build to a 4g63 these come out instantly, and this will not cause the valves to drop anyhow, that is only if the balance shaft belt tangles into the timing belt. The 4g63 has made 500+hp on 180k+miles on stock bottom ends. The 4g63 has went 6s, and is in the fastest awd, jon sheps car. The 4g63 can make 600hp much easier than a rotary, I can almost guarantee that. I love the rotary and all, but you are now comparing stale apples to oranges. The rotary could not pack a 4g63s lunch. Sorry, but it is true. That does not mean I like my rotary any less, but I have personally experienced the 4g63, went 13s for less than 100 bucks, and never had a lick of trouble with it. And it is so easy to work on, its stupid. The rotary can be insanely fast, and a swap is pointless. Do not buy a rotary car just to swap the best feature from it, its pointless and pisses me off for the most part. But do not talk crap about a motor you obviously know not a damn thing about, it makes you look ignorant, and not very reputable. Sorry if I look like a dick, but 4g63 stereotypes **** me off when I can be 100% sure you have never owned one.

I hear you bro and being a DSMer, of course I agree with you. But I do believe swapping in a 4G63 or any other piston motor is a good idea. Not that I hate the rotary. I believe the rotary is just trapped in a world full of piston engines. You can get so many piston engines to make power for cheap. Probably 99% of the R&D, support, and parts for internal combustion engines, are for piston engines. I am all for the average rotary dude who wants to be different, hell I'm being different with a 4g63 in a FD, but because the rotary doesn't have the backing of pistion engines, spending more money to produce the same HP and be reliable, is obvious.

im not sure if this is the same post but in a previous one, it was mentioned that the slightly larger na 2.0 4g63 from the caravan has a slightly larger bell housing that mates to the stock fd transmission. a similar tranny was used in the b1000 picukup i believe. so the swap is not impossible, considering a block could be had for like 50 dollars probably one of the cheaper sounding swaps out there. but why press your luck when youre probably going to spend about the same amount whether you swap an sr20det, an ls1/6, or try and be the first 4g63 swap. the custom fab has been done and is available for the ls1 which takes alot of the custom machining out of the swap but does not eliminate it and the sr20 parts are out there too, but not mass produced .

that is a good idea but it would end up costing you so much time and money, If you do not want to stick with the rotary just go with what is known to work and go with a v8.

Hey 4G63FD and coltboostin,

Im very interested in doing the conversion... So to reconfirm the swap,

I can use a 4g63 engine from 89-94 GSX and GS-T, Talon TSI, and AWD Laser?!

How are you guys routing the top coolant line, that is now in between the block and firewall?

And the alternator relocation kit will move it to the intake side?

And approximately how much WHP on the 4G63 with 30psi can produce, since i have close to none knowledge of the DSM engine?

I have a spare E6K and a GT42 turbo laying around that i want to strap up to the 4G63 and see what motor can handle. Im pretty confident I can fab up the T6 turbo manifold and the intake manifold myself.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Sonny.

No, you need either a 4g63 or 4g64 wideblock. The DSM 4g63 came in narrowblock only.

so your telling me there's no awd or 4x4 drive in any of these systems..cuz id love to run an awd rotary..read my thread "fast and furious type situation" to understand what im talking about. but what im saying is that if the 4g63 wideblock bolts up to the tII tranny..the the opposite has to be true..the rotary matching to the 4g63 tranny. and if the wideblock ever came in awd or awd then that would be awesome for myswap.

Well the thing is it happens by swapping the bell housing. And you can't swap the bell housing on an AWD DSM because it's part of the tranny.

The closest thing you could get to AWD would be to pick up a Mazda B2600 4WD and swap the bell housing to a TII and there you go. I don't know this will work for sure, but I don't see why it wouldn't.

ya but i doubt the tranny could handle the rpms. i guess i'll just go back to the idea of using the tII tranny with a custom drive shaft so that it fits the eclipse rear diff from an awd.

The B2600 tranny is the same R tranny used in the TII, the only difference is the bell housing. And I suppose in the 4WD version, there's also a transfer case.

Sorry gusy, I ahve not been paying attention.

You can get a hp for XXPSI estimate-there are to many variables for ANY motor. For example-when I{ was stock +a 60-1, I made 441whp@30lbs. With supporting mods, and a GT42, I made a reliable 708whp in my daily driven Colt.

The alternator wont have to be relocated-there is plenty of room for it.

Top coolant line-I am impressed you asked, because most would not have looked that far into it to see an issue-

you have to Either relocate the T-stat housing to the front of the head (there is a freeze plug there you can use) or use a self contained T-stat housing. Summit has them, they are cheap.

And to the questions about 4wd-your biggest issue would be tetorfitting the front hubs to accept axels, or retofitting the front truck hubs onto an RX-7 chassie.
