So they're offering me the side-skirts for just $35 out of pocket if I will keep the hood.

What do you guys think I should do?

It's not the hood I WANTED, but I can always sell/trade it later and at least this way I'm getting some nice side-skirt lips for only $35.

i say send the hood back and get the one you want.

do the stock-fitting hoods fit with your 1jz in there? i'd personally go for the Shine FEED replica hood. those look killer. the scoot hood is a little too much for me.

did you put the volks on yet?

I'd be interested in the hood for the right price and I could pick it up from S4S next time I swing in to visit. Pm me if you are interested in selling.

Yeah, I just e-mailed them to say I want to just return the hood.

I've ALWAYS liked the Scoot hood ever since I saw this FD ~10 years ago:

The special Volk lug-nuts aren't going to arrive at the shop until Saturday according to USPS, so I'm going to have to tell the shop to put the FD on jacks so that I can sell my RPF1's this weekend and they can just put the Volk wheels on the car Monday when they have the lug-nuts.

I paid like $730 for it. I'm not going to take a loss on it when I can just return it. That would be silly.

Are you offering to buy it at full-price (what I paid?) lol

~ Small Update ~

I'm working with Fritz Flynn right now to get the high-pressure line/banjo fitting that I need, but I still need the 2JZ banjo fitting so that I can have a custom high-pressure line made.

No responses yet on my Supra Forums "WTB" threads...

Hot damn. Just sat here for an hour reading this whole thread. With all it's ups, downs and twists, I really can't wait to see the ending. Going to be an awesome car when finished.

LOL..can't blame you.

I got a response back from the company. We're going to proceed with a return.

I found the VIS version of the hood on Andy's Autosport for cheap, plus there are 5% discount coupon codes that make it even cheaper.

http://www.andysautosport.com/mazda/...r01020524.html

http://www.retailmenot.com/view/andysautosport.com

So, once I get the refund from the one company, I'll just buy it from there.

What I like is that on the Andy's Autosport web-site, they actually have separate pages for the BRAND of hood you want.. So, they have a Seibon page and a VIS page.

Thank you so much.

Yeah, it's definitely been a roller-coaster ride!

I'm honestly proud of myself for having stuck it out this long. I think it's just the vision I have for this car that has kept me optimistic over these years.

That, and the thought of how much money I would have lost if I just gave up and parted the car out. LOL

~ Small Update ~

Fritz Flynn is shipping me out the banjo fitting I need for the steering rack, and I finally got some responses on Supra Forums from some guys who might even GIVE me the banjo fitting to the power-steering pump for FREE....if they can find it. LOL

Crossing my fingers!

Also - My Volk lug nuts won't be arriving till Saturday but I need to take the RPF1's off my car to sell them on Saturday....

So, I'm asking the shop to put the FD on jacks or a lift until Monday, so as soon as they come into work on Monday, the lug nuts will be there and they can just throw the Volks on.

Stressful situation for sure. Jared @ Speed For Sale wasn't particularly enthused about the idea of my car being stuck on jack stands or occupying one of his lifts... but considering I've spent over $7,000 with their shop already...I think I deserve a little bit of leverage in this situation. lol?... -_-;; $7,000+....

Because one end of the line is going to the Mazda steering rack the OTHER end is going to the 2JZ power-steering pump.

I just need the two different fittings so that I can have a custom-line made.

Make sense? :P

I COULD go with AN-fittings and just run a universal teflon-coated line that can handle the pressure..

But according to Jared @ SFS, he ALWAYS has seen small leaks with that setup... That's why I want to do this the right way by using OEM fittings.

I might want your clutch. I have a 4-puck UN-sprung clutch that I KNOW is going to suck. lol

My motor is technically a GE, though...so I dunno if your clutch would work.

I got an e-mail from Jared @ the shop saying he located the Toyota banjo fitting, and I have the RX-7 fitting in the mail.

So my hope is that by next week he'll have both fittings in-hand to give to the hydraulic shop that's going to make the custom line.

As far as they are telling me, once they put in the line they can put the engine bay back together.

Everything else is wired up, so it should only be a matter of days before they'd be able to at least fire up the car for the first time. ^.^

As long as you have an R154, yes his clutch will work with yours. GE and GTE parts 99% of the time all work with each other.

That's good to know. :]

I'm stopping by the shop today to pick up the RPF1's so I can sell them tomorrow.

I decided to ship back the hood. They've packaged it back up and it's getting picked up on Monday.

Hell yes!

The Volk lug nuts showed up TODAY instead of tomorrow!

I just stopped by the shop to pick up the RPF1's and snap some pics of the new wheels!

Woot!!

Fitment is good, but the tires may be a little too thick for my taste. I might need to roll the inside of the fenders to prevent scrubbing.

The tires that came on the wheels have VERY little useable tread left and one of the fronts has a bad gash. :/

I am actually thinking about going with thinner tires to allow for me to lower the car more...like 2" lower.

I'm thinking about going with 245/35/18 and 285/30/18's maybe??

Any other suggestions?

try to use a 265/35-18 and 225/40-18 . Those are the sizes i ran a lot. Also keep your stock springs in the front as it will sit lower due to the extra weight in the front. Might just lower the rear down to match

I have TEIN Flex coil-overs, so I can adjust ride height.

I just worry that 265's won't give enough traction.

You've got 11s in the back right? You have mentioned no concerns for modifying the fenders already. Why are you looking at 285s? You should be looking at 305 and 315s. Do you want to put the power down and use what your single turbo 2jz will produce or not? Lol

The Volk's are only 18X9 and 18X10. The 245's and 275's on there now are already really flush with the rim. If I go much larger they might looked ballooned.

I'm not trying to make 600+HP or anything, so I don't know that 305's and 315's are really necessary, anyways.

I just want to start at about 400hp and see what breaks from there. lol

I don't mind pulling and rolling the stock fenders a little bit to make the car have the right "stance".

I am going to do the Shine Auto "Burnout" front and rear widebody down the road, and at that time I'll probably sell the Volk's and go with something wide and more aggressive.

I'm still leaning towards 245/35 and 285/30's at this point.

Ah I missed the move to 10wide. Yes 285 is perfect forthat. Be mindful of brand though. Not all 285s are created equal width. I found that out the expensive way when I bought 285s for my 10.5 wheels and they look semi stretched. Some brands run narrower that others.

I don't want to go crazy with some overly sticky and expensive tires. I was just thinking Hankook Ventus V12's or something.

~ Update ~

So, my FD has been actually been physically transferred to the hydraulic shop that is making the A/C and power-steering lines for it. By them having the car on-site, it will be easier for them to specially make and fit the lines, rather than just making lines based off length alone, as provided by the shop.

Jared @ SFS said they should have it completed and get the car back by mid next week, at which point they can proceed with FINAL assembly! After that, she will be ready to fire up! @_@!!!

I'm going to stop by the shop next Friday to see how she's coming along!

Stand by for more pics and hopefully some great progress!!

OoOoOoOH, I'm getting excited!!!!
