1UZFE in FD

1UZFE in FD
Myself and a friend are building up 1UZ-FE to put into a MA70 Supra. For all that don't know, the 1UZ is a lexus 4.0 liter V8, DOHC, all aluminum.
Down the road we plan to ditch the heavier, oldschool looking Sup for the much lighter FD. That being the case.....will it fit??
The 350 V8 swap is rather common, and it looks as if it there's room to spare in the bay. The 1UZ is wider, perhaps by as much as 3" on each side (19" compared to almost 26"). Can anyone measure the width of the engine bay at the strut towers, and then lower down, just above the main frame rails?? That would be a huge help!
Here's a pic of where I need measurements:

Thanks guys.

Thanks a ton for that info Kracker.
The motor is being sleeved out to 4.6 liters (keeping stock stroke). custom rods/pistons, headwork, and 2 GT4088R's.
It is also mated to a Supra getrag 6-speed.
Thanks again, it'll deffinetly fit!

A buddy of mine is in the process of putting a 1UZ in an IS300. Figured it might interest you.

Way to represent Toyota!
I presume you are using an earlier engine (pre VVT-i) since you are going boosted?
I am very interested in the project, post some pics, especially of the engine build-up.

Thats right, the block is a '92 1UZ. The heads are from a 2UZ (4.7 liter Tundra motor). They have larger/more boost friendly ports and combustion chambers. The motor weighs in at around 180kg.
Here are a few pics of the build:

no to thread steal but i damn near did the same thing with a fc body that i had, a friend of mine here (green bay WI) has a newer 1uz and supra 6 speed and rear end. he also has ever last wire and whatnot off a smashed gs he bought down in florida. the gs was stripped to drop it into his 04 IS but that has kinda slowed and i almost took over and put it in a spare parts car i had. my main concern was integrating the lexus and mazda wiring for things like gauges and the body harness portion of the lexus engine management unit.

yeah we go down there all the time. we should be at all of the rsd nights this year. my friend has to pick up a beater first (i think he finally found a 92 accord to drive) then it should begin. i should have my rx7 there (its a white second gen) or i will be in the wifes srt4. we go down there with the guys from beyond redline (the 2 red dsm's), a white sti, a red z31 turbo, an h22 prelude, and a turbo ls/vtec crx. we may have a few more cars ready for this year but its hard to say if everyone will have the time and funds. we hang out with like 20-30 guys we meet street racing like 6 years ago and we all gave up the street scene (too many stupid people doing stupid things). but if 1uz swap gets done i definately wanna check it out. we are thinking trd supercharged on the IS. should do easy low 13 high 12 with his 19s and street tires. look us up at the real street drags there, i havent bothered to check when they start i am too involved with my stupid 7. keep me updated. later.
