I'm poor so I'll never have a 787B, but 986's are CHEAP and plentiful. AND any as$ hat can cut holes in housings and make a 13B peripheral port. So why not have a Wish.com version of a 787B.

So here is my project.
I'm gonna make a tube chassis out of this 986 and slap a PP 13B in it.
First we start with a car. This one is nice.
Then we clean the car...

Alrighty, gonna take some more time but we have started on this journey. Its gonna be a fun journey.

I needed to move on from the RX7. I've ALWAYS wanted a PP, and the RX7 just isn't a good host for the PP platform.
It should be done by DGRR 2025. At least it'll be built up, I don't know much about peripheral ports, but I can always slap a regular 13B together from all the parts in my shed.
DGRR this year will be attended by the "Boxsterado". My silver 986 with the nitrous aided supercharged 4.3. Its more of a touring car vs the thing I'm making now; which I can only describe as a brawler.
So K.E.P. makes adaptors for Porsche transaxles. I used a K.E.P. adaptor in my silver boxster. Great product, no issues with it. BUT they don't want to make an adaptor for this project of mine.
I'm left with a few options.
1. use a 914 transmission with an adaptor plate. -4 speed trans = no good for peaky rotary power band -cable clutch -weird custom cv axles 2. use a 930 or G50 transmission. -I don't want to spend 5 times on the transmission than the rest of the entire build. 3. Make my own adaptor -I don't think I need to say why this is a bad idea 4. BEG AND PLEAD on my hands and knees for K.E.P. to make a one off adaptor for me.
Honestly I think I'm gonna go with option 4 tomorrow. If that fails I'm gonna hunt down a VW bug adaptor and take it to a machinist friend of mine. He might be able to make something work. Worst case scenario I go with option 1.

So, Kennedy said no again. I get the feeling they are not the ones making the plates anymore. Probably outsourced to China due to demand (the Porsche M96 engine is like the worst engine ever made).
So, my plan is to get an old second hand VW to rotary adaptor. Then weld on the appropriate extra metal to fit that adaptor to the Getrag 012 trans (the 986 trans). That'll solve the belhousing mounting issue.
With the bellhousing out of the way; I can use an automatic rear counter weight and a chunk of steel to get the correct amount of thrust to match a rotary flywheel up to the Getrag input shaft. I'll use a rotary pressure plate and a Getrag clutch disc. Fortunately for me the input shaft for the Getrag is larger than the input shaft on an RX7 so all I have to do for the piolet bearing is take my flywheel to a machine shop and get them to bore out the piolet hole to match the Getrag's input shaft.
And there should be some real cutting and welding action to be had this weekend coming..... OH MAN I can't wait to start cutting up this body.
OH YEAH, no more front stuff. I think the 914 thing is gonna go by by. This is gonna be strait race car. I'm gonna get a **** for the front.
The ride height difference is VAST. Same make and model right next to the blue car in silver. The original car is like 6 inches lower. I dunno how much weight I've carved off but its a lot.
I'm gonna start adding tubes and reinforcement this weekend. And I'll be addressing the very HIGH front end.
Well I didn't get as far as I had hoped this weekend. I did manage to cut the rest of the body off. Not in the pictures but the rear bumper section is gone now. The transmission is the very butt of this car.
This is how I'm lowering it. I'm using the bolt holes from the old strut mounts to make a jig where I can get the support tubes welded and then cut out the old strut mount. I don't know how to word that
She sits a little low..... I need to adjust the front and cut more from the body and put a rotary instead of an H6 in it, but it is a little low.
I did some poking around and Mazda trix sells adaptors for rotaries into bugs for a decent price. (They might be buying them from kenedy, but I don't wanna call them again) I think I'm gonna go ahead and get an adaptor from them and start this terrible machining process.
Mostly finished tubing the rear. I do want to add one more pair of supports for the strut mounts, but I want to get the ride height issue settled before I weld those two in place.
lolz..... like one of them there clue puzzles...which did I see 1st.....the housings, the mountain dew or the boobies? Ya tricked me with the 1st pic though having just housings and taco bell, so I failed.

housings look pretty hood short of some cleaning
The irons are some of the best I've ever had. I guess that says a lot about the junkyard quality stuff I normally run.
how many PP housings did you get? 2? 3? 4?
i think those would be the RB housings, the hose barb they use makes the intake manifold a bunch easier

Na, these aren't classy RB housings; they are definitely some home brew redneck ****. Now I've seen how its done, I guess I could have made these at home. Oh well, the irons are in good shape. Not a bad buy in today's rotary market.
