Supercharged 13B in Karmann Ghia

I finally got the engine running. It is a street ported 13B with a Candem supercharger and a 650 holley.

The engine runs really good! I have not being able to take it out on the street. The temperature is staying around 185 degrees.
I need to install the gauges on the dash. The wires you see going up the firewall are a temporary connection for the gauges.
I will let you know when I get to take the first drive.

I have Porche fuch wheels for it and is getting recaro seats. I bought this car about 5 years ago and have since upgraded the tranny and vw engine. I know installed the rotary and am in the process of having the body and interior redone. Now that the engine is running is time to refinish (again) the engine compartment and take it to a shop for the body work. It is a lot of fun to drive.

It has an IRS. The exterior is not done yet. It is going to a shop for the exterior and interior. It still have a few months to go before it is ready. You can see a couple extra pictures of what has been done at:

Is that the 5" or 7" supercharger on that motor? Also, is it a 4 port or 6 port? Do you have any clue as to what kind of power you are making.

I would really love to put a 7" on my SP 13B 4 port....

I will not know for sure until I cantake it to a dyno. I would assume that if the engine has about 160 to 170 hp with the street porting, header and 650 holley and the supercharger gives me another 30%, the hp should be between 208 to 230. We will see.

On your oil cooler what brand is it and what are the specs on it? Car looks sweet and I really like the oil cooler you choose to use. What are your oil temps like and what size hose/fittings did you use? Great looking ride.

Nice. I wanted a Ghia long time ago. In high school, one of my sister's friends had one witha 914 engine in it. I can't wait to see how yours turns out.

Just a hunch, but I'll bet you'll need a fan on your oil cooler. And it looks like you kept the AC compressor, very nice!! Now if you can mount some fake stock chrome tail pipes on the back... I have a '66 convert ghia waiting for redo this gives me ideas. Have fun, don't kill yourself in it.

It is a Setrab Oil Cooler. It has dual fans. I believe it is used on Nascar cars. The oil temperatures are staying below 180 so far. That is without runing the engine at high RPMs (breaking-in the engine).

I used -10 AN fittings and lines from the engine to the cooler and then installed reducers to -8 AN to be able to use the temperature sensor that I bought with the cooler.

Thanks!

I am using a VW transaxle from Rancho Performance. It is what they called a PRo Street - hardened keys, Super Diff, Aluminum Side Cover, Welded 3-4 Hubs.
I bought it before I decided to go with a rotary engine. It has a 3.78 ratio.

I'm glad I found this link on your site. I've been wanting to put a diesel in my 74 bus.
