Stripping the RX-2 and have questions...

I'm stripping my RX-2 for paint and resto-mod, but have a few questions. I've got the hood off and sandblasted, so it'll be a day or two before I've got it worked out and primed, but I'm soon gonna need to get the chrome trim off. I've gotten the front drip rail (A-pillar), door strip, windhield trim (front and back), but I absolutely can't get the back half of the drip rail chrome off. I also can't get the rear quarter-glass trim either, since that back corner just won't move. Has anyone gotten all their chrome off and can tell me how to do it?

BTW, I'm also gonna need another hood before too long, so if anyone knows of a spare, that would be very cool.

I used my thumbs to pull down and out. THe bottom comes off first then lift up over the top rail. You may need a small scrwdriver to carfully pry the bottom off the trim off the clips. Going on is MUCH easier.

For the one at the bottom of the sill, you need to remove the inner panel and weatherstripping rubber, there will be some bend tabs on the chrome trim that needs to be bent out before removed. THis is also a great time to replace the window rubber/weatherstripping. Austrailia is the only place I know to get it...I recommend Spectrum Rubber, good prices and fast shipping.

oh, and my headliner is still in mint shape, so I'd like to remove it without any damage. Any pointers on how to do this, if it's even possible?

I had to remove mine due to having repair work on the roof...I belive all the headliner is held on by the molding around the doors and inside the window, I don't think it will move taking out the other stuff....the corner just pulled off, back toward the rear of the car, the upper and lower strips slide under the corner, so the lift up and out method may also need to be used. Ok...just ran out and tried it...pull the lower section of the corner out from the bottom then shove up,once the bottom is loose the top portion of the corner piece will back out toward the rear of the car. Good Luck. BTW- paint thinner and fine steel wool work great to clean them up (if they have paint overspray on them) Just don't rub too hard and take it down to the white.

Cool. Do the bows in the headlinder just sit inside a set of rails that run inside the roof or something?
