Shorten shifter 13b NA tranny

Hi Guys,

I searched the forum and all I found was that most people shorten the shifter to the t2 tranny and I didnt find any thread where someone explained if it is possible as well to shorten the NA 13b tranny?

I believe that you can after seeing lots of pictures of how to accomplish this mod, can someone confirm my thoughts ?

Thanks.

Picture of my tranny above:

It is the same as the t2. I put a cheap ebay one in my na trans with no problem. I reccomend changing the boots while you are in there.

Thanks for your reply but what I mean by shorten the shifter is to move the shifter foward a few inches so it doesn't touch the parking brake.

although you can just Chop a piece off the shifter and Say it is a short Shifter,in reality it is just a SHORT shifter.not a SHORT THROW shifter..
Read THIS and you will get some "brainfood" as to what I am talking about. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-archive-72/miata-short-throw-shifter-writeup-445801/
This mod will give you shorter Throws,so your Second gear will not be like In the back seat!(exaggeration of course!).I hated that stock shift throw.
I haven't heard of anyone shortening the Tail stock or whatever to Move the shifter's location up..that would mean you need a longer Driveshaft too.I honestly don't think it can be one,But I've been wrong.

i've done it to the tII trans and also the N/A trans, its possible with both trans if you know what you are doing.most of the time i shorten them about 4 inches so they can fit the older rx2,rx3,i also did it on my turbo fb.too much detail to get into right now,pm me and when i have some time i will give you a detail description on what is needed to be done.
