Thats better than the 140lb-ft I'm stuck with. Pretty impressive when you figure in all that CARB/LEV/ bull$hit.

Before anyone says wrong forum, there is a picture of an FC in the heritage link. Good enough for me to post here.

Hell, it will still sound good! I imagine it will sound more like a 3-rotor...hehe .

I'm really excited about the RX-8, as well as Mazda's current lineup. The Protege and Protege 5 are SUPER sharp looking cars. Saw a Protege 5 today that was midnight blue - I about ran off the road looking at it, it was just stunning!

Fast, reliable, good gas mileage.....

And the package will be even more complete when Mazda offers a drop in Renesis engine replacement for REPU's, Fb's, Fc's and Fd's

I think that the Protege 5 and Mazdaspeed Protege are really sharp. Too bad you can't get turbo with the 5.
Get rid of some of the options on the Mazdaspeed Protege, drop the price, and kick some butt (SRT, SI, RSX, SpecV, XRS, GT-S)!

Mazda needs rotary power for their entire car line

before you guys get really stoked about the RX-8, Auto-Express (a UK based auto magizine) got to test drive a "production" version and the results aren't as Mazda promises.

They say it only has 237 bhp and will get 22 mpg, and that's the high powered version that said that Mazda will also release a 187 hp version.

here's the link:

Maybe, we'll get lucky with a 4th gen 7, because this is a really disappointing article as far as i'm concerned. We'll just have to wait and see when the US reports get the 8 to review, maybe they will have better news .

Power output could be different for Euro models possibly due to different emissions requirements(?). I certainly hope so otherwise the rotary comeback might be short lived.

As for the mazdaspeed, it disappoints me. Mazda didnt even touch the block when they built it... only added a turbo. I expect it wont last very long when exposed to 10+ psi.

the problem with the mazdaspeed pro

you can't up the boost

they have some special type of hold in pace which won't let you up the boost, and if they are broken then you void your warranty.

so the boost is set and you can't change it for the mazdaspeed pro....

I have a 3rd generation protege myself (1999), and i was looking forward for the mazdaspeed, as when they release that, i was hoping mazda would release some kind of turbo kits for us NA proteges. but mazda wants to keep their mazdaspeed pros "SPECIAL"

so they aren't releasing the turbo or any of the hardware needed for the turbo pro.

also i don't think the stock pro tranny can take too much more boost....so if you are looking for turbo upgrades, then you should also look into tranny upgrades also for the mazdaspeed, and teh regular pro's

also your warranty will be void for changing the turbo...and they also have that policy with the mazdaspeed....where you have to send in the original broken part.....to get the new fixed mazdaspeed part...so that people don't go trying to get mazdaspeed parts for the regular pro

damn i type too much

supposedly the Renesis was capable of 280hp, but the production vehicle was going to be aimed at 250hp. and i've seen different numbers for hp and bhp. i looked it up awhile back, and bhp stood for "brake horsepower."

It really did sound sweet in person at sevenstock, damn I am happy I made it this year They said it was difficult reaching the 250hp mark while maintaing a low noise level but they were getting close and if that is what the 237 is then that is pretty close.

If they'd only remember that their customers are only going to rip off the restrictive stock mufflers to go louder any way, they'd have fewer problems. I guess doing it right would make it harder to sell after market mufflers though.
