Rx2 sedan 12a turbo project
So I'm bored at work now and decided to post up on what I have been working on the past few days for my brother.so my brother bought the car about a year ago and he finally decided to start getting it going.when he got the car it was running with a rx7 12a motor and a oldschool 5spd trans,it was running a mikuni sidedraft carb and a 1 piece intake manifold.so I convinced him to take carb out and do a budget efi set up using all the turbo rx7 injection,s5 lim,s5 lim,and stock top mount intercooler.I'm doing all the wiring for the stock efi myself also. in order to use all this I had a adapter plate made so I can bolt up the turbo intake manifold to the 12a block.I bought a 3/4" aluminum plate and also bought a s5 lim gasket then I went to a place where they do water jet cutting and had them cut the outline of the gasket and center ports.I had to do the outer ports myself since water jet cutting only does straight cuts and he ports on the plate had to be in an angle,I also did all the drilling and tapping of the holes on the plate myself also.plate fits good with no problems.I also had some steel 1/2" flanges made for the stock s4 rx7 turbo so I can make a manifold for it.12a motor is all stock and I'm probably going to run about 8-10 pounds of boost since we are using the stock ecu.Im also going to run an external wastegate so boost can be controlled better. Here are some pics of the engine bay and I will post more later of the car also.

nothing pretty but you get the idea.i also have a set of weld draglites that we might put on,we are still debating on the weld draglites or the epsilon mesh set we also got.
here is a pic of the flanges i had made for the s4 turbo.i got like 4 left.

so i was doing some electrical toaday, got one of the harness done.it is the driver side harness that powers the ecu, coils, crank angle sensor, and the main circuit relay that powers the fuel pump.here are some pics.
after removing alot of wires from a rx7 dash harness i ended up with this.
and just to clean it up a bit and make it look nicer i got some vinyl tubing and i ended up with this.
got to do the engine harness next, now thats going to be fun.

so u have a plain jane s4 ecu? isnt it going to run rich..
it apears u have 460 in primarys and 550 in secondarys
a rteck 2.1 could help out with timming and fuel curve what was your plan for that? considering the smaller engine..
or was it more of a lets see how it goes.lol

Actually it has 88 TII 550 primarys but going to switch them out for the low imp 87 tII's,secondarys are GSL-SE injectors 720 I believe or close to that.you can never run too rich on a turbo car, well at least that's what i thought.first going to run the car with just the stock ecu and see how it runs and if it does run rich I will send it out to rTek,rotaries love fuel anyways especially turbo's.I will learn as I go since I never done a 12a turbo using 13b turbo injection.

Blwfly I think I will try out the in tank fuel pump idea,I have an external msd pump that I was going to use might give it a shot.so far the only parts that i have paid out of pocket was the intake adapter plate and getting the lower intake manifold modified for the primary injectors, everything else i had or traded parts for.the welder I have has been working great, but still working on doing good welds since I havnt been welding for too long.

Very nicely done. IMHO, this will be the most effective and safest way to turbo a 12A. I don't know why others keep trying to go blow thru/draw thru carb when they have so many tuning issues that increases the chances of losing the engine before it's optimally tuned.

12A Turbo Project, You Go Dave!
Your doing a heck of a job there with that RX2 Dave. Keep us all updated, can't wait to see the finished product!!! In my opinion you should go with the Mesh look, because chrome wheels don't look good on lighter paint colors. Black brings out the light and Chrome brings out the dark!!!
