rx2 header 13b 6 port

Where do you guys get your headers from? I see lots of rx2/rx3 with 13b in them.

car: 1973 rx2 / 1984 13b 6 port gsl-se engine

The racing beat header kit ( you have to build it ) that I have does not clear the steering linkage with the wheels turned all the way to the right?

I called atkins rotary the place the I bought my engine from and they do not make a header for this swap.

Wheels pointed straight. Lots of room.

wheels turned to the right. Very little room with the steering linkage.

Try a couple thick washers under your engine mounts... Usually it will raise the engine enough to clear... atleast on an rx3 anyway

In one of my RX-3s i used a gsl-se single exhaust header to clear the idler arm then i chopped the outlet to make it into dual . However, all my motors have been pushed back, meaning i did not notch the front cover engine brace

just like your experience with FB dual outlet header, my other RX-3's DS idler and steeeing wont clear the header due to design. FB style come out straight while the ones that are designed for a RX-2 & 3 are routed towards the mid-section of the car and away from the frame. Since I had a collection of headers, the single outlet for FBS & FCs works fine, pipes are not spread apart like the dual, gave me approx 1/4 clearance between the header and idler arm; see attached. Steering linkage no longer hits one of the pipes while turning. But, you have to unbolt the idler arm prior to installation. maybe you should check out which pipe doesnt clear and then rig it. you may want to shim the front mounts as previously suggested.

I dont have any pix but IIRC, we used a FC single outlet header on our project RX-2 where the pipes where chopped before the flange and were extended, angled towards the transmission just like a RE RX-2 & 3 header.

I have a 13B header with bolt on rear flange built for 3" exhaust that was built for a R100, It will clear the RX2 with ease. PM if interested.

Sometimes you gotta get creative. I've taken apart old headers and custom fitted/re-welded them to work with the car. Pipe lengths weren't exactly even, but you and I aren't going to notice it.
