Hey now. I think you'll have to put a wiggins clamp on the turbo intake, too.
Don't think you can start slacking now ;)

Looks awesome.

Hmmm, I thought about that but I'm not fond of welding to the compressor housing any more...the one on the side can be cut off and cleaned up if needed but I don't think the one on the intake would work the same way. Maybe for next winter :)

chris,
im trying to get ideas to mount my fpr off the firewall, any chance you could shoot a pic of your fpr up close so i can check out the line setup and mount to UIM? thanks....car looks kickass btw!

For a mount I used this stud with the spacer/standoff that you see there (its painted red in this pic):

Attachment 676955

I then used the factory FPR mount but flipped upside down, you can see the mount in this video at 0:45:

I drilled a hole on the mount that would locate it where I wanted it but you could also make/buy something like this for the same effect:

As for the fuel lines, Its a bit of a mess and might not match what you are doing because mine is meant for E85...

There is a Y at the feed from the pumps which is -10AN splitting into two -6AN lines. One goes to each fuel rail and the returns go to either side of the FPR. The bottom of the FPR goes back to the tank.

I hope this helps.

Chris

Yup! I didn't change them though, I glass bead blasted them and then I ran them on Scotchbrite belt to give them a brushed finish. :D

Narfle 04-04-13 12:31 PM

Gonna black out the braided lines and AN fittings too? Wrinkle black the UIM and you'll have midnight in the engine bay.

The lines are next but we will see when I get to that...I just want to drive it now. The UIM was just done in wrinkle red so I wont be changing that for a while ;)

Got tired of my leaking Oil filter pedestal rig. I had thrown it together in a hurry to get the car running last year and never worked well. Its a RX-8 Pedestal modified to fit onto the B-RE base on the engine, the problem is that I tried using a gasket. Now the problem should be gone with the new Oil Ring grooves I machined into it.

Cheers!

Nice REW setup!!! From the 1986 to 1992 Turbo RX7 Gorilla fingers, 1993 to 1995 Flat Fingers to Banana Fingers. I like the the Banana intake Manifold the best!

Finally got around to redoing my exhaust. Originally I had full 4" from the turbo back splitting into two 4" pipes as in the first picture. Needless to say, when I switched to the 13B-RE from the Renesis the sound got way louder and became obnoxious (Renesis side exhaust ports make for a quieter engine). Splitting a 4" pipe in two 4" is a waste as it just turns into a big resonating chamber so I decided to go into two 3" which still have more cross sectional area than a single 4" pipe. I also wanted to add some pipe length to help with the noise and decided to try the the center exhaust approach. I still have some work to do on the bumper but pics speak for themselves. Now the car is considerably quieter but still sounds good when you get on it and I cannot notice any loss in power.

Cheers!

I really was never happy with the engine mounts I made to install the engine. This was compounded by the tightness of the whole thing forcing me to use delrin to bolt the engine to the frame which transferred every little bit of vibration causing certain rattles and noises inside the cabin. In hopes of developing a 13B-RE/20B-RE swap kit that would be repeatable I began work on a lower sub-frame replacement that would allow bolting of either these engines while keeping vibrations lower than what I was experiencing.

Here go the pics of the final prototype...feels awesome now and it uses standard FC mounts (modified) or any of the available replacements for them.

Cheers!

Wish I could do something like that, but in VA, I would have to keep the OEM ecu for the emissions :(

I have the OEM ECU plugged in because you have to keep it in order for the cluster, power steering, A/C and throttle body to work...DO IT!!!

What about the emissions? Do they do the obd2 port scan for emissions over there? Will it pass the OBD2 port scan with your setup?

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, this is sooooooooooo tempting :icon_tup:

I don't think it would pass emissions without some severe tuning of idle and the addition of a Cat. There are no tests here in MN...:/

Well finally finished reading thru this thread again. All I can say is wow! You have a amazing build on your hands. Once the warranty expires and I retire my RX8 from daily driving. I hope to accomplish a swap one day. Still a toss up between the REW and the RE. Boost on and enjoy!

Haven't posted in a while. Over the past year I've been mainly working on taking care of little things here and there and enjoying the car. Tail lights switched to 09-11 ones (took more work than you would think). Winshield washer tank is now aluminum and will not melt (lol). HRE's got blacked out along with emblems etc so I'm officially "murdered". I also finally finished the surround for the center exhaust. All is good.

Few pics.

Cheers!

No numbers yet (at least from a Dyno). But it is pretty well tuned at 20-21psi and feels fast. I'm using a Haltech Platinum Sport 1000. I will dyno it when I get a chance.

Cheers.

I don't know if its legally over there but you can make your tails lights more dark (smoke 'm) would be cool I think.
