RX-2 12A turbo?
I have found a early 12A turbo Motor , Complete. The guy wants 900.00 for the motor. I know I would have to rebuild it.
Givin that, do you guys think I should Stick with my 13b or go to the 12a TURBO? I would run my haltech f9 that I have! I really want a turbo but I think it would be cool (and make my car more rare and worth more) if I had a Nice early 12A TURBO in my car!
Comments?

how would having a non original turno engine in your car make it more rare?
a 12a swap would be somewhat easier than a 13b but other than that it's really up to what you want to do with the car and engine.

The RX2 is already a rare car, Having an even rarer 12A turbo motor in it would make it worth more to the enthusiast! How many people in the US have a RX2 with a 12A turbo motor from Japan, espicially on the East coast? Every1(u know what I mean) has a 13B in their car. I know a bone stock RX2 "should" fetch the most money/ but this is not the case.
I agree with Jaime! And I am sorry MRMAZDA I wouldn't get Give you the Boost retarding DIST. to save my life. =)

Its true, you don't see many people running those engines. Usually those who do have them are 1st gen guys, I've never seen an RX-2 with one. Usually they just go straight for a 13BT but it you can get a nice deal on the 12AT, and you already have a computer to run it, then I say go for it if that's what you want. Does it come with the turbo transmission? I don't think a regular 12A trans would last long once you start modifying it. Don't forget an intercooler, stock motor doesn't have one as you probably know.

Ok, so if I stuff a rare 20bt in my Rx2.
Would that make it a lot more rare?
I still cant see how stuffing a 12at in an Rx2 would make it rare. It would make it one of a kind, but not rare in my eyes. I have thought about doing this swap for 8-10 months now, but can't deside.

I think unique is a better word for it, you don't see many RX-2's and you really don't see many 12AT's, put them together and you have a very unique (and fun) car.
By the way, if you got the 12AT, how far are you planning to go with it? I'm quessing that with an intercooler, S4 13B turbocharger, 3" exhaust, and the F9A you should be making 200+rwhp on the tiny stock ports. They only have two 800cc injectors so I'd probably get two more injectors or else your not going to have enough fuel. With a streeport, more fuel, and T04 turbocharger you should be able to get 300+rwhp easily.

The 12A turbo I saw was in one of those Serious Fours videos....Mr. Enforcer Engineering...the Green old Corolla (I think its a corolla). 2nd Gen throttle body, Haltech...$900 is a great deal....I'm assuming those have 3mm seals?

RARE: Infequently occuring; uncommon, unusual.
I don't know why its so hard to understand what I mean when I say " rare". Hopefully the dictionary definition of the word will clear things up. BTW: isn't something that is one-of-a-kind considered rare? And yes KICK putting a 20BT in your RX2 will make it more "rare" and faster.
Anyway, I first plan to rebuild the motor and street port it. At first, I will run the motor at low boost with no intercooler. In the future I plan on front mount intercooler, 2 gen turbo, and added injectors. I will run a Haltech F9 computer and the Stock dizzy. I will take pics of the motor in its different stages an keep you guys updated.

Will the 12at fit the Rx-2 engine bay ?
I was planning to put a blow thru turbo on my 12a Rx-2 but the exhaust manifold I have is too wide. It hits the frame...
The ex manifold is from an Elford turbo, normally used on a 1st gen.
Which transmission are you using ?

Multirotor,
yes the stock exhaust manifold and turbo from the 12AT will fit in the RX2 from what I have been told. Anything bigger and you have to move the turbo up and forward to clear the frame. I have a friend that has 13B with a Cartech turbo and manifold in his RX2, he just notched the frame and reinforced it to make everything fit. That is up to you, but most don't like cutting into the frame.
I am using a 85 GSLSE tranny that has the shifter modified to fit the stock location. This tranny should be good to about 250 - 300 hp, it was freshly rebuilt and is doing excellent with my setup now. If you want more info about making a SE tranny fit, then PM me I have pics of how I did it.

could you post pics of the trans shifter modification somewhere?? I've got an 84 tranny in mine but I ended up cutting a new hole in the floorpan and moving the whole console back about 4 inches to work. Can't tell from looking at it really, but I would like to be able to put it back to normal so I can get the heat coming out of the rear part of the console again if possible . . .

Would like to see the pics too !
I have fitted a series 1 Rx-7 transmission to my Rx-2 but I have many Series 2/3 trannies that I would want to use when the current one fails...
