sorry for no pics, can't find camera and my phone pics suck.. Took out the huge mess of vacuum crap, there were 4 nice holes on the top of the rotor housings perfect for mounting spots for my bosch coils under the manifold I can see that there are a few things to do before wiring, but all in good time. One question for you all: Is the injector oil pump electrically controlled?? thanks

I meant, does the pump need power? as in positive/negative. :p

the oil pump does not need 12 volts to function. if you turn the engine over enough by hand you should see oil being pumped through the system.

is there a cat on that pipe or just straight to the muffler?

Okay thanks. The exhaust wraps form the left of the engone to the right and then forward into one metal muffler and then turns to the left side and then turns to the back into another metal muffler then does a uturn and back out (2 mufflers over 6 feet of mandrel tubing). Coils will be wired up to my microtech ecu. here are my pics:

Many wires have this cool braided covering and shrink tube over for some protection and less mess. Lots more wiring to do, and oil/oil filter/spark plugs are changed

One question, on the oil metering lines, the top of the banjo fitting has a vaccuum tube on it. Can I just cork that or do I need to run a line from it to give it constant pressure?

not 100% but i think that is just for optional add ons. the oil pump will keep the pressure. do you have a close up pic you can hit me up with?

So far the microtech is all wired, just waiting for my new "fast reacting IAT Sensor". Then put it in, and wire it. Trying to mount the oil cooler still, and just 2 more gauges to hook up and find a place for in the dash. It's getting there, but still much to do.

yea the oil cooler is a must. i am going to try for a radiator from an auto trans car and put that instead. i think the build in tranny cooler will work alright.

Oil cooler is temporarily mounted and connected, the new Air Intake Temp sensor installed, all lines are connected. The pressure pipe needs to be put back on, and throttle linkage put on and then the first startup can occur. Latest dilema: May need an external wastegate and a fuel pressure regulator and I can't find my alternator plug... I am going to ask a buddy of mine for a camera capable of long video for you guys to see this bad boy run! ;p

Here is a pic of the setup so far:

your going to need a fuel pressure regulator for carbed engines. there are alot of them on ebay for good prices. i think its less than 12 psi for carb but the injected engines go up to like 48 psi.

The alternator clip is somewhere... haha. Well my engine is not carbed so I would need a high pressure one. After startup I'll know if I need one or not. More little things keep occuring. Had to make a new gasket for the pressure manifold. Just bought a boost gauge and still have to install it. Throttle cable is giving me crap, but will soon be up and running :p

yea i have heard these engines are sensitive to fuel pressure, should still start but the pressure has to be right for it to idle. what kind of fuel pump are you using?

Alrighty guys, first day of trying to start the engine was rough. Issue after issue. The microtech will not connect to the computer through the software. So we said screw it for now. We hooked it all up and gave it a start. After flooding issues, fuel pump issues, it finally started. It purred like a kitten, nice sound and revved perfectly. One main issue now though... Tons and tons of white smoke profusely spewing out!!! The house and the whole neighborhood was covered in clouds of smoke haha. Any ideas as to what this could be? My first thought is that with block off plates and things the way they are, one of the water lines is dumping some water into the engine somewhere. I guess the engine is steam cleaned now haha. Any help is appreciated guys. My camera does not do long videos, ill borrow one and posta vid up for you all to enjoy

hmmm...is there the scent of coolant being burnt? im not sure how the coolant is circulated in the engine but maybe you should run it for a while and keep a good eye on the engine temp and coolant level.

Videos of the bug running

Here are two vids of the bug:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnGMxO4tW48

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7kLWLgbY1I

I can't figure out how to add the videos to the post so you can just watch it in the forum.

As you can see, there are some issues with smoke going on. I believe I will get rid of the omp system and jsut do the two stroke method when filling up the tank. Anyone have a good ratio of two stroke to 1 gallon of gas? thanks. Also, whats with all of the smoke. After the videos, my father and I narrowed down more water lines and stuff. Now it only smokes when warm and when revving. PLease help guys, hope you like my project

you can know if its coolant or oil just by the scent... what are your compression numbers?

Well for the first startup we only put water in it so there is not antifreeze in it at all. The smoke seems to smell like oil so it prolly is oil and not water anymore. But there is some 2 stroke in the gas so It is hard to pinpoint exactly the issue. My father and I have come to the conclusion that maybe the omp oil system is dumping excessive fuel into the engine and causing the smoke. So we are going to dismantle the oiling system and run just two stroke when filling up the gas tank and see what happs to the smoke. Hopefully something internal hasn't crapped out like seals...

That's oil seals, man. Must be a used J-spec engine. Rebuild time.

Or is it a fresh rebuild? They shouldn't smoke that much unless you made a mistake upon assembly.

yea sounds like oil seals...
but i think these engines dont require two stroke mix...they already burn oil by design. why did u put two stroke in the fuel? that could cause smoke for sure. is there the scent of a dirt bike or something like that?

i would say drain the tank and try some straight fuel.
