Removing Rx3 Trim

Removing Rx3 Trim
My kid and I are fixxing up and Rx3. We need to pull the side window trim right above the door and the trim around the rear window, without trashing the trim.
So, folks what is the secret to pulling these?

If your talking about the trim that runs along the rain gutter thingy, good luck! I pulled this off of an rx-2 and literally got blisters on my fingers by the time I was done. The best way I found to do it is put your fingers on top of it, your thumbs on the bottom of it and roll it up with your thumbs and push with your fingers. Start at one end and work your way back. I got it off without damaging it (just my fingers lol)

Revn,
I have to pull that one too, but I was trying to get the one on the very bottom of the window. It has the rubber edge which keeps water out of the door. The ones on the rear windows do the same thing. Still can't find a way to get them off in one peice.
So, how did you get the upper gutter trim back on after paint?

they lift out
there are little fingers on the chrome that go through holes in the door
alone the trim is loose on the door but once the rubber edge os snapped through the
same holes it keeps the trim tight.
the chrome is easy to pull up and off but the rubber edge is another story
the little clips that hold the rubber on are almost impossible to remove without
snapping either their heads off of one of the pegs
hope that helps

Oh, never took those off. As for getting them back on........never had to do that. I was just pulling them off a car at the junkyard to sell them on ebay. I'd imagine they go on in the reverse as they came offf. They have little clippy things inside and probably as you roll them down now, they would snap into place. Might be a real chore though because once there back on, don't think they will slide back and fourth you you have to be exacct in their placement. Maybe someone else has practice putting them on and could tell you how it is rather than guessing like me

The rear window trim is almost impossible to get off without damaging it unless you have the proper tool. It looks like a little flat piece of metal with a sort of hooked end. That slides under the stainless steel trim and enables one to pull the clips towards the middle of the window enough to release the trim. Sometimes you can find one of the tools at an automotive paint store, or possibly an auto upholstery supply store.

I just re-read your post and realized that you weren't talking about the rear window, but the side windows so the tool may not do you any good unless you need to remove the stainless steel trim around the REAR window. Sorry if this caused any confusion.
