As for the horsepower, untill I hear a Mazda official actually say it will have over 280hp, my bet is it will be 280 hp as this was one of the most recent articles that actually gave a hp rating. What they need to do is not increase the redline but increase the torque down low. Which I think the thicker rotors would do. But with thicker rotors you have more rotating mass and a longer ec shaft adding to a slower rev that the renesis which would make me think they would not increase the redline...
That got me thinking, and I will have to agree that they might keep it a stock 9k redline. I'm pretty sure they won't lower it, I don't see why it would need to be. The wider rotors should really help the low end torque, or actually the overall torque. The renesis already comes with a near perfect torque "curve" so just adding more across the entire range would be pretty sweet!
For those unfamiliar with this, the Renesis makes 90% of it's torque as low as 3000rpm, and the peak torque is at 7,500rpm,

All I'm hoping for is that Mazda keeps the formula of a "true sports car" for it's next 7. Nothing watered down or sporty/touring like the 350Z.
Plus you have to admit a 10,000rpm redline would just be f'ing awesome
