old old old. Anyone else notice the old mazda hood ornament. Also the seats looked identical to the RX8's. The rear reminds me of the ford escort ZX2. The car itself made me say "NSX". this can be a good or bad thing. Only 220hp? this better be a sub $20K car. I highly doubt we'll ever see anything like this come to production anytime soon. I'd also heard the rumors about ford using the RX8 as a litmus test for the RX7. It's untrue. Ford is using it as a test for the renesis in general. Ford needs the compact size, powerful and efficient renesis motor for several applications. I expect to see the rotary back in the mid size and compact sedans. I also expect to see a renesis-powered Focus before too long. Since the new Mazda 3, Ford Focus, and Volvo S40 all share the same platform I'd expect to see the AWD Renesis in this body. It only makes sense.

Sorry dude, but I gotta call bullshit. I work for mazda AND ford, and ford will NOT touch the rotary. They have said it multiple times. The rotary is mazda's little prized possesion, and mazda wont let ford anywhere near it, despite how much of mazda ford owns.

It is true that the 3, the focus and the S40 all share the same platform, but they all have this working against them, they're all front wheel drive. I'd expect to see a rotary miata before I expect to see a front wheel drive or all wheel drive rotary. Mazda did try to make a front wheel drive rotary before, and thats how the 13A came about. Never saw mass production though.

And for the record, the rumor going around is that ford DID give the go-ahead for mazda to make a new RX-7.
