How much can a REPU hold/tow before it explodes?

How much stuff in weight would a '75 REPU tow and hold in the back before it falls apart?

My friend blew his clutch today. It is an RX-7 disc in an REPU. IT wasn't heavy duty enough I guess. I might get a pic or two or the shattered remains.

According the original truck sales brochure they have a gross weight of 4120 lbs for the manual, and 4130 lbs. for the auto. Do the 2nd gens weigh this much? I though the 2 gens weigh like 3000 lbs??? Any ways most people under estimate what the trucks realy weigh.

REPU

YOU CAN GET THIS SETUP FRO SPECIALTY CLUTCH IN ATLANTA GEORGIA, OR U CAN GET ONE FROM CENTERFORCE CLUTH.

THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK IS LOWERED ONCE U CLEAN THE ENGINE BAY, THERMOL NUCLEAR REACTER, AIR PUMP, EXHAUST SYSTEM AND REPLACE W RACING BEAT DUAL EXHAUST W BIG BORE MUFFLER. I HAD A HOLLY 550 W/ RACING BEAT INTAKE AND PORTED 87 TURBO MOTOR WITH NON-TURBO ROTORS A 79 GEARBOX WITH LIGHT FLYWHEEL. THE 74-75 REPU CAME WITH A 4.66 REAR DIFF, SO OFF THE LINE THE TRUCK WAS STEADY AND EVEN AND IMPRESSIVE

I don't want to be rude or start a fight, or pick your words apart but you made another error the trucks came with a 4.625 rearend ratio for the manual and a 4.375 for the auto. also I wonder if mazda lied about the weight. I too do not REALY believe they weigh quite as much as reported. But if they didn't it is very hard to get 1500 lbs out of a truck with just replacing the exhaust and stuff. mabe 750 but 1500 is double that. I know how much the stock everything weighs on them. I own an original one that has stock engine and everything. Any ways I enjoy having conversations about the REPU's so we should have them more often. Once again, I just wanted to correct the error.

The gross weight (GVWR) is the maximum weight of the truck and its cargo including gas and passengers. The curb weight of the REPU was between 2700-2800 lbs. I wish still had my REPU. I got it with a bad motor, swapped in a 2nd gen rx7 13b with a Weber side draft carb, then had to move. Never quite got it running right but if I just had a couple more weeks to play with it...

one of the things that you did not remember is that i personally weighed my repu.

you are probly right about the specs on the diff. I ment to leave it @ 4.6 diff.

u can weigh any veicle when u volunteer to work tech at any scca venue or u can go to a truck stop and drive up on the scales

By the way check out my latest rotary-1982 gsl turbo:

A second-gen RX-7 Turbo weighs as much as a base 626 of the same era (2700lb)

Note, the manual quotes "GROSS WEIGHT" This means the MAXIMUM the vehicle can weigh (ie, the weight of the cargo and the truck)

the kerb weight of the truck should be around 27-2800 lb's. so, that means my truck, should take around 1100 lb's of stuff. a kerb weight is the bare truck, with no options or liquids or lubricants. A laden weight is a truck with no options, and a full crankcase, fuel tank, radiatior, etc. A gross weight is usually used only on trucks, and means the maximum the truck can weigh without self-destructing (what i needed to know)

Gross weight is usually called "GAWR" (Gross Axle Weight, Rear) "GAWF" (Gross Axle Weight Front) and GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight)

Gross Weight = FULLY LOADED, for the PU subtract at least 1250lbs of payload for an unladen wt of around 2870-2880lbs

fforget that gross weight stuff. CURB WEIGHT IS THE ACTUAL WEIGHT OF VIECLE AND THE SPECS FROM MAZDA AND CAR & DRIVER IS ACTUALLY ON REPUGURU WEB SITE.

http://www.geocities.com/repuguru/

YOU CAN CLICK ON HIS SITE FROM ABOVE. IT SHOWS A CURB WEIGHT OF 2720LBS FOR MANUAL AND 2730 FOR AUTOMATIC. AS I WAS SAYING FROM BEFORE, TAKE AWAY EXHAUST SYSTEM, AIR PUMP AND THERMAL REACTOR, U HAVE A VEICHLE THAT WEIGHS LESS THAN 2500LBS

Allright guys I admit I was partialy wrong on the weight stuff, Because we do not go driving around with a 1400 lbs. pay load. But the diff gearing is 4.625 like I said. Any ways I will be out on the 22nd with a bunch of guys from the NW forum and we are going to be making a vid. part of the vid is likely going to be posted in the lounge and there should be some footage of my REPU so keep an eye out for it.

You spelled "vehicle" wrong.

Also, what is wrong with gross weight?
