there's been a bit of discussion about these cars on the ausrotary forum.
general consensus is that left hookers are too difficult (expensive) to import, swap over to rhd and generally get certified for road rego here.
i reckon they'll go to Peurto Rico.
while we're dreaming, look at this fine little r1 resto currently for sale, $42k:
1969 MAZDA R100 M10A Coupe Private Cars For Sale in QLD - carsales.com.au
hope link works, otherwise go to carsales dot com dot au and search for r100.

there's some horror stories here about personal vehicle importers getting run through the ringer by rego inspectors. rotaries are generally not well liked by the bureaucrats anyway and add lhd to the mix won't make it any easier.

I like how he claims the red on is one of the best in the USA.. He hasn't been out too much i guess lol I personally seen 2 in our garage in way better shape and all original.
Anyone find it odd that he went from 25k -35k in a couple bids? i think he is having some ppl bid on it to raise price.

"Impecable interior" Mint Condition"???? There is no carpet in the dam thing? lol
Dont get me wrong, there very nice but.... not Mint
It will be interesting to see what they end up selling for... This is the rarest of the rare... I see fewer of these around than any other old Mazda....
I hope they find a good home

Do you mind disclosing what he sold them for?? My friend knows the guy that has them now, and had given him a buy now price which is less than current bid.

would be easy to spend that on a quality resto/build and end up with only car.
difference is that most enthusiasts spend their money incrementally over many years.
it's that age old journey/destination discussion. building a car yourself is about the hours spent hunting for rusty parts and waiting for them to come back from re-chroming. whoever bought these cars just teleported directly to their destination.

can't guarantee this words but;
I heard he was having people bid on it for them to raise the price. Wanted someone to "see" how much they would go for on eBay before selling... and if bought they headed to the island.
