Could I, should I?
I have the chance to get a crashed RX-8 and a blown up B2500 PU. Could I put the RX-8 motor in the B2500 PU and should I even try or do you all think its just to much? I value all members opinions, let me know what you think. I think it would be cool, but then again anything with a rotary is cool to me!

you can idk about should i say do it as a modern day repu would be awesome once its in you could sc it for an even faster truck. also it is more or less a ford ranger underneath there so anyhting you could need should be really easy to find
which are actually quite fun especially when people dont expect it. had a cammed/heads/intake/exhaust checy silverado was a fun truck and was actually a lot quicker than anyone would ever expect. have another one now and am looking for a carb legal turbo solution

I would like to put a Renesis in a real REPU, but I have a nice alternative (Camden) for now. Maybe someday.
But for you, yes you should grab everything from the RX-8 so the Renesis will run properly in the B-series pickup. Remember the 8 uses some sort of Car Area Network with "drive by wire" and a PCM-controlled fuel pump. Basically a bunch of weirdo new car crap that you have to use unless you're capable of retro-fitting to more familier alternatives.
You're doing a pretty good job exploring new territory with your Sprite rotary project, learning how to do a simplified rotary in a simple chassis, so why not go for a newer rotary in a newer chassis? I would if I had the goods.

Yeah Jeff that's what is bothering me all the electronics and emission stuff. I'm figuring a complete gutting of the PU electrical and then some sort of transplant of all the RX electronic gear. This might be a little more than I could do RIGHT. I'm on the fence for sure since the Bugeye is turning out way better than I expected. And, if the price is right I'll probably do it, sometime I can't help myself. Ahhhhhhhh. Like %7 and 13B said a mordern REPU would be cool, I just don't know if I'm up for this task.

rx8 motors have been swapped into earlier rx7's im thinking about picking up a motor and otehr bits i need for my datsun. itd be a lot more streetable and make the same power as my current motor. if you can make ot work on a bugeye ill bet youll be okay.

you can just use the renesis core with a holley or webbers. cheap and easy. its been done. just not so much documentation on the internet about it.
to use the stock manifolds, electronics, ecu, and all that. it wouldnt be worth it to me...

I went an looked over both vehicles today and made an offer of 5K. The dude kinda bawked, he wants 7K. I told him to call if he changes his mine. The RX-8 is in good shape but no title, the truck is titled though.

I'd say 5k would be a fair price if the truck does not run or has no engine. If the truck runs then 6k would be a good price. You can make up some of the money by selling the extra bits from the 8. I'd go for the complete swap. Replace the entire engine/cpu wiring harness with the 8 and only keep thr bits that you need (lights, etc). As I understand it, you will need to keep the 8 speedo. Call it the "Super B-RE"

The electronics on newer vehicles may scare you but really it's not that complicated. Infact, it would probably be easier than trying to run throttle cables and what not. A few wires here and there to sensors and it's all done. Just get some kind of repair info for the Rx-8 with wiring diagrams and electrical connector pinouts. Decide what you can eliminate and what you need to keep to make the engine operate and start wiring.
