I saw one of these about ~15 years ago. I don't remember who owned it or any of the back story, It was at a car show and what I do remember, is that it was all original except the engine and trans. The owner mentioned that he still had the original engine and trans, still running when pulled (with very low mileage) and presumably never rebuilt.

He put in a carb'd 4 port 13B built with mostly new components and an RX? 5 speed trans without modifying any of the original components because he wanted to drive it on a regular basis and have it be reliable, without racking up mileage on the oem drive train.

I gotta say, I think it's absolutely an amazing feat simply to find parts for a car that is 41 years old. I have trouble finding parts for a car that is half that age with much higher production numbers!

The time spent finding bolts, screws, little NOS items that you didn't have must be equal to the time spent building the car.

Yes, Glenn has spent a lot of time and money not only hunting down NOS parts, but he's also gone to great lengths to have a few parts painstakingly recreated based on NOS parts.

Rubber trunk seal and I think he mentioned a few items for the heater core, but don't quote me on that.....

Bottom line is that he's been able to find and/or refurb almost all of the parts, but a few have been a challenge.

Oh yea, also forgot to mention.... Glenn told me that the brake lines, fuel lines, rubber grommets, and windshield and rear glass rubbers were made for this car and Jay Leno's car as none were available. Leno was happy to split the cost.

Also, the OEM wheels had to be located in Japan and were in such poor shape that the inner rims were cut out from the outer rims with the outer rims being replaced. The wheels that came on the car when Glenn purchased her were mags and not original.

Man... you guys are making me want to go to SevenStock now!

Any plans to have the car at the Japanese Classic Car Show on October 12th? That show is sooooo much better than SevenStock.

Not sure if Leno will be there or not. More than likely Leno will attend the JCCS on Oct 12th.

Here's pics from today. Note the addition of the upper radiator hose, steering wheel refurbished, wheels on (sans hubcaps), front valence and a few other things I'm sure that I've missed. I think this will be about it as Glenn will load her up along with the R360 tomorrow in preparation for his Friday drive over to LA for SSXI.

Thanks Teddyrx2. I'll pass along those compliments to Glenn. Here's a "before" and "after" pic of some progress made this week on the stock air cleaner restoration. Enjoy...

WOW did Glenn make the m logo and the yellow and silver sticker, or were they part of the parts that he has. if he had them remaid, how cause my RX2s air cleaner has them, but the cleaner needs a bit of paint in some areas but im scared that i may damage the stickers on it.

the work that Glenn is puting in this car is incredible.

Not sure.... I think they are NOS stickers that he sourced from Mazda Japan, but I'm not exactly sure. I'll ask him next time we get together. The car will also be at the All Japanese Classic Car Show coming up on Sunday, Oct. 12th in Irvine, CA.

Really beautiful work guys I am amazed!

RX2 fan there is a guy here in Australia that does reproduction decals etc... He is the guy to talk to if you are looking for similar stickers...
