808 -> Rx-3 conversion?
Would a 12A / 5spd / rad / etc from a rust bucket 80s Rx-7 bolt up into a piston powered 808. That is the only real different besides the badging right? There is an apparently great shape '73 808 wagon for sale near me. Thanks.

yes,the rx7 stuff will bolt up.maybe you want to get an rx 3 front cross member,or make your own.the gear shift will need room in the original gearstick position,but the drive shaft should slide right into the rx7 tranny.but you will eventually have to change the rear after a while of rockings fronm the rotary which revs higher than the piston.
i myself have converted 1982 626's to rotary and now have my 5th glc rotary.
you end up with a lighter ........than rx7 car, real fun to drive,....... and feared.

It has been done many times.
Check the Austrailian boards for specific information.

yes, i did it. u'll need the front cross member that bolts between the frame and swaybar, that's where the front of the engine mounts to. u'll need to fab an extension to the tranny mount and spread the tunnel alittle if u use a 5 spd. had to do that on a '73 rx3 2 door i had once to put a 5spd in it. didn't have to spread the tunnel on the '75 808(sig) tho. add another coil and split the 12v already in the car for the original, for the 2nd coil(black w/ white strip i think it is). have to use throttle cable for an rx3. the 7 one might work. also, if i remember correctly, the 808 wagon with auto tranny had 4:11 rears end.

Hey Bud, when i had my 808 i considered doing a Mazda B6 conversion.
you could use a Jspec Miata motor, andthere are tons of bolts ons for them.
tre was a pretty sweet write up, Done by an Aussy of course. I would stil consider
it for an 808 or a 606/616
