1966 NSU WANKEL SPIDER - VERY RARE AND IN GREAT CONDITION !!
This car is absolutely wonderful and a lot of fun to drive. It is as good as they come.
Serial / VIN Number is 5602585.
I have been to many car shows and followed Ebay sales for many, many years and I have yet to see another Spider that has been restored and prepared with this attention to detail to create a more fun, dependable and pleasurable drive than an original car.
The engine has just been rebuilt with metal seals from Dr. Fabritius in Germany and Mazda oil control rings and oil control ring springs for tightness. It runs very, very well. It starts right away with a little bit of choke and a couple of blips to the throttle. I use Mazda rotary turbo NGK spark plugs that work very well.
The carburetor is original. It has been disassembled and completely cleaned up and reset to match the new engine. When the secondary choke opens you feel a rush of power from the engine. The original intake has been modified to accept an off-the-shelf paper filter element about 3 inches high. There is a new 3 inch intake flared to 4 inches that goes through the rear passenger side wheel arch and brings in fresh “cool” air.
The floor shifter has been tightened with new bushings for a nice "notchy" feel. The original rubbers from NSU wear all too soon. The transmission shifts impeccably and is very tight. The transmission has fresh Castrol SAE 80 weight oil.
The car has been lowered in the front 1.5 inches using new springs for a beautiful snug fit of the front tires and a great front lowered and raked look. The rear is not lowered as it would make it too bouncy. The original front springs are included in the box of spares. There are new shocks at the front and at the rear. The rear shocks are 79 Mazda GLC. They work great and eliminate the rear bounce that Spiders have.
The car is in excellent shape and does not have any rust. The underside is very, very clean. The photos show a very small area of paint peeling above the rear left bumper and below the license plate. These are hardly noticeable. In the driver’s front undertray there is a repair at the end of the spoiler that seems to be from a previous hit to a curb. The spoiler however, fits tight.
I can ship within USA 49 via enclosed carrier (truck). I use Intercity Lines, they are located in Connecticut. http://www.intercitylines.com/ I can ship overseas in a shared container. The shipping company that will take care of the overseas shipping is GES Logistics located in Los Angeles. http://www.ges-ca.com/contact_us.htm
The shipping cost is a flat fee of $1,000 for either option payable at time of purchase. Please note that you need to arrange for your import duties and import paper work.

Wow, and to think I picked mine up for $300 back in the day. Heh, although it was in about 1000 pieces. It's hard to say if this is worth $30k, maybe to a collector? You could probably get an early Cosmo 110 for that much though.

Jay Leno has an NSU Spider. He did a whole segment on it for his "Jay Leno's Garage" site: http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/...spider/658142/
Also, it seems like the owner would want to list this at Barrett-Jackson or something. Most "car people" have never heard of this car so it's not like they are searching on Craigslist for it. There would be a better chance of selling the car to someone who would appreciate it.
