Your wrong! I know of 3 4x4 samurai swapped rotaries.
In fact I have been gathering parts to build one my self once I find a sammy with a blown motor

I found alot if info back when I was ready to do it to my sammy on a few 4x4 web site.
A few 13b FI conversions and then the 13b carbed and finally the 12a carbed.
I ended up selling the convertible (hate the noise on the road) to get a tin top.
Once I get a tin top I will probably go 13b 6port with stock ports and a carb.
Going with toyota axles with 4:10 or 4:33 gears to keep it a good on and off road sammy.
Shooting for 180-190 hp over the 50-60 it had stock. Should be a fun ride once built.
A few guys had the swap that were at Zuki fest of somthing like that. The FI one would be cool but Im thinking cheap so I can put money into good bumpers and a small exo cage to protect my kids in the rear.

yeah I've found alot of info it is possible. I think you have to shorten the 13b tranny about 12" or so

I hear ya. Well in order for me to buy one it would have to be a tintop with only the tranny and engine missing (need t-case, drive shafts, etc..) title, and would have to be cheap cheap in order to justify the cost of shipping.

i used a volvo radiator on my samy i had to cut a little bit on the hood and the front where the hood latch is , i have a rx4 4 speed tranny bolted to the transfer. i drilled new holes on the transfer yoke. i'm using a stock fan it fits fine after you move the radiator foward. i used racing beat header which was cut because i did not clear frame. if you need help pm i will try to send you some pics and the info. my friend have a you tube video of his rotary samurai is under rotary power. f
