So it finally happened
200,008 miles + I blew my first motor. On the track. Half way through the third lap. Yay -_-
So what kind of options are there for rebuilds/new motors/used motors? I have a 91 turblown.

pffffffffffffffffffffttt
I'm painted with rotors, that **** doesn't fade. I'll never go piston in my 7. I have a miata, that's close enough.
But yeah, I need to crack her open to see how bad it is. Just need to find a place to do it.

wat? I don't remember you saying that when I bought it. But I plan on doing either brand new parts or S5 na rotors. We'll see what happens when I pull it apart.
It was turn 5 or 6 at pacific. Right before the uphill. Gave it some gas after the corner + pop. Then it sputtered. Odd thing was that it wouldn't hold an idle at all, + sounded like it was running on one rotor. Then after driving it to safety it sounded better, but still wouldn't hold idle.
I might get another used jspec + throw that in since it's cheap. We'll see.

Easy to rebuid yourself if you have the time and space. The biggest issue may be sourcing decent used internals at a fair price or having to dump the money on new parts (housings, plates).
J-spec is just a ticking time bomb IMHO, but if you go that route i would be interested in seeing how well it holds up.

I just got the atkins rebuild video. Other than not having specs, that looks stupid easy. There's got to be something that's hard to do about this motor.
PS, Tweak, I cleaned out my PM box. Feel free to resend that message.

Clean every part really good, make sure you are generous when applying the required liquids to soft parts and double check each step you do. Don't take it lightly and be distracted when rebuilding. When it starts on the first crank you will be happy you did. It's a great feeling. Get to it.

Yeah. I'm working at boeing now + the stuff we have to do is crazy. Very very precise work. I will definitely use those skills when rebuilding. I just need to make sure I have a place to do it. If not then I'm thinking of two other people to build it.
