RPNW.ORG barbecue at Merwin Dam --- CANCELED
Join us for a casual family-style barbecue at scenic Merwin Dam Park, 10 miles east of Woodland, WA on Route 503, on Saturday, June 23rd, 2007. Start time for the barbecue is 1:00pm, but you can come early or late if you like. Bring frisbees, footballs or other recreational equipment to amuse yourself. Bring a bathing suit if you want to take a dip in the reservoir. There is also a nice hiking trail to stroll along.
Membership is not required and there is no cost to participate, other than PGE's $1 parking fee. Hamburgers, hotdogs and softdrinks will be provided but it would be nice for you to bring something to share, like chips, salad, corn or whatever. The park rules prohibit alcohol, so please don't bring any.
By all means, invite your family along...this is a social gathering and not a car show or tech session. I believe dogs are allowed everywhere but the beach area.
Right now, the barbeque is the only thing on the agenda but perhaps we will work-in an optional afternoon drive for those who would like to see the back roads of the area, or visit one of the many local sites, like Ape Cave.

I believe the optional afternoon drive is going to happen. I talked to Bill White about organizing one for us, so those that don't just want to hang out after eating have something else to do. My guess is that it will start around 3:00 pm and you can either return to the park when done or leave for home from there.

Okay, guys, this event is just a few days away. I need a headcount so I can estimate the amount of food to bring. Let me know if you are planning to come or not. Only those who have stated positively that they are coming will be fed. Those on the fence who just happen to show will only eat if we have extra.

By the way, the weather may or may not cooperate. Unless it is really raining, the event will go on as planned. Check back here on Saturday morning to get the definative word. I still need to know who will attend, weather permitting.

Canceled!
It looks like the weather is going to be bad on Saturday, so I am canceling the barbeque. Don't want to go and buy all the supplies, drive all the way out to the park and then have no one show up because of the rain. Sorry. Perhaps we'll try this one again later in the summer.
