Rotards doing rotarded things to rotaries IV
Saturday, January 23, 2010 there will be a bunch of us rotards doing rotarded things to our rotaries.
Stop in and discuss your project or ask for advice. We want to help keep these rotard-mobiles on the road and feel that sharing knowledge is one good way to do that. Plus we like to party.
Northwest Auto is hosting the event. The shop is located at 834 Goldfish Farm Road, Albany, Oregon 97322 and is about an hour south of Portland. Goldfish Farm Road is just east of I5 (exit 233 which is highway 20). Take Highway 20 exit 233 east, from I5 to Goldfish Farm Road. Turn left (north) on Goldfish Farm Road from Highway 20. Turn left at 834 Goldfish Farm Road.
Start time will be noon. We'll go until about 4:00pm or longer if a good discussion is going on.
Drunks, jerks and trouble-makers are not welcome.
Have fun while enjoying the car crazy babble of other rotards.
If you get lost or need to be talked in, please call Bob at (503)588-1716.

Assuming we get it cut & buffed before than... probably a coat of wax on it before we take it in the weather... ugh... I'm in work training all week (12-13 hour days). This weekend I'm there for ya... what ever help you need. Looks like we'll have to put painting under the hood and touching up bumper on hold.

I am torn between doing it, in that its only going to have about 2 3/4 weeks cure time..... But damn it would be nice to get it to the meet

I'm thinking (almost) 3 weeks of cure should be fine. Keep in mind Joe, we had it under 2,000 watts of infared heat lamps for the first week and a half... Maybe SOME form of baking action going on there
Well, it's still a lot of work before than. Buffing by hand MIGHT take a LITTLE bit of time
This weekend is a 3 day weekend for me and I would like to spend most of it self-inflicting pain to my fingers buffing

2000 watts is nothing. A real booth will bake the car (literally) at a constant temperature.
Sadly the minimal heating and temperature swings due to our Oregon weather probably have caused soft spots where the paint hasent fully cured.
Just be careful, you do not want to seal in the gasses released and have the paint bubble. Its happened to my uncle before a show- even with a temp controlled booth. He got the car done a week before a big show, wanted the shine, and shortly after bubbles started to appear where he waxed the car.

We've tracked down the only fender flaring tool in the known universe, just for the 'tards get together. We even have experience using it. My 74 RX4 had the front fenders flared a few days ago, and CWRX8 had his '06 RX8 rear fenders flared tonight.

^ Nice!!!! I cant wait to see them! Robert- I thought i was going to get a call to come watch . J/k No biggy
So it seems that no matter how light, no matter what grade and no matter how tedious i am, chris's car cannot be wet sanded.... Not without throwing a couple coats of clear on it.... Soooooooo, we will (i think) be making an appearance in a "not finished" wide body rx7.... :\
However it does still look "ok" and i think will be a nice addition to the group, mine will be in the shop wishing its heart worked though
Cant wait!!!!
