Estimates vary on how much diesel is required to produce ethanol.

Those I read yesterday run from 1:1.3 ratio of diesel:ethanol to 1.3:1.

Neither figure seems particularly good.

The diesel is for agricultural use to grow the corn, as well as transportation.
