Portland DEQ

I'm getting my T2 in the next few days. It needs a new wiring harness to pass DEQ is what I've been told by the PO. Do they do a sniff test on older (1987) cars, or do they plug me in. I think it should pass the sniff test if I do a tune up on her. other than that the car runs drives great. is there ways to help me cheat also. I know derekcat has used MMO or sea foam to help get him through, would this be bad for a T2. I ask because I know you have to be careful to run premium gas to prevent detonation, and wouldn't sea foam drop down the octane?

Not mmo or seafoam... Isoheet [denatured alcohol].

You should go read in the second gen tech section to find out if the same steps apply for T][s and NAs..

On my NAs I need to do this: working cat+air pump output to the split air pipe [the pipe coming from the cat to the exhaust side of the engine bay]+ 1/8th tank of gas+2 bottles of Isoheet in the tank+fill up with normal gas IMMEDIATELY after the test+Disconnect the airpump output from the split air pipe when you're filling up after the test.

and that makes it pass with flying colors.. I remember reading that you need to drive very gingerly while running this setup [do not rev up/use much throttle]

To be clear: I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS IS, OR IS NOT SAFE FOR TURBO ROTARIES.

its just a sniffer.

stuff steel wool in your muffler. that will help burn off any gasoline that makes it through

alright thanks guys. I'll check the 2nd gen section.

Edit: Just searched the 2nd gen section using terms ISOheet, ISO heet. found 4 threads none touched on the topic of Turbo Apps. So if anybody knows let me know.

Mark, you said you use it to pass, have you tryed it on a T2 or your FD's?

Ok, would it be safe to create a boost leak with a CAI bypass filter placed before the intercooler, then run the ISOHeet? Would this keep it from boosting?

This is what I'm talking about
