First of all, these and other forums are for intelligent discussion about a given topic. (By the way, I appreciate the humor in the last post.) I don't feel that any discussion should turn into a series of attacks that do no one any good. So I apologize for making any comments about spelling and the use of proper grammar. I guess it's the former teacher in me coming out in a not-very-nice way.

What you feel about your dogs and what the statistics show are two different things. I love dogs and have been a dog owner before and knew that because of her breeding history that she was not a threat. I am not saying that pits are not capable of being a loving dog at certain times. I am saying however, that the pit bull breed has a proven history of violent behavior, could turn on anyone at any time and therefore should not be allowed in our civil society.

Good luck with the eventual and inevitable lawsuit that will surely come knocking on your door someday after your dog kills a kid. Since you brought in up in one of your recent posts... I do have personal experience with a situation where a pit bull and its owner were known to walk around our neighborhood blatantly not using a leash. The dog would consistently run up to people with dogs and take an aggressive approach to the dog while growling and barking. The owners of the non-pit dogs would be scared to the point of picking up their dog and backing away from the situation while the pit's owners would do nothing. (This is a case of a dangerous dog with bad owners. The pit was a male and was still packin' heat, if you know what I mean. Why anyone would want to breed a dog like this one is beyond me.) I saw this occur on numerous occasions with the same pit and the same owners in the park by my home. One day, a sign appeared on posts in the park. They showed a picture of a medium-sized lab/collie that had been killed by the pit bull. The sign was asking if any one knew of the pit bull and how its owners could be located. It also said that after the pit attacked and killed the other dog the the pit's owners quickly put a leash on their dog and exited the scene hastily, as if to run away and not get caught. I guess they succeeded. I just wanted to share that example with you.

I am not the only one who feels like this. I'm not going to change your minds and you're not going to change mine. So, I'm signing off.

also sorry for my previous personal attacks. btw you got some spelling errors up there.
when did I say anything about my dogs eating children? If I did it would of been a sarcastic remark about someone elses post. That sounds like a crappy owner of an agressive dog. I said from the begining that they are known to be dog agressive if not propberly socialized. Also I don't let my dogs run around unsupervised, and I've socialized my dogs well. Haven't had any issues. I've also owned a total of 5 pit bulls and several other breeds of dogs. I know alot about dog history of many breeds, not just pit bulls. These dogs don't just turn for no reason. they have the same thought prossess of any breed of dog. or animal. I'm not saying pit bull attacks don't happen, but so do many other spiecies of animals we have as pets. It won't really solve the problem of dog attacks. soon as pit bulls are banned people will find another breed of dog, or animal to focus media attention to.

Btw was the pit bull you mentioned a brendle (brown and tan stripes) color? and was this around oregon city? If so I may know the pos owner your talking about. Dogs name is Bruno, and chubby skin head for a owner named carry or something. If so That is a awsome dog, but he has a pos owner who made him verry aggressive, commenly beats him bad, feeds him small live animals. also I don't think brunos all pit. His features are a little off. That dog could be saved, but should be relocated to out of city limits.

Enjoy your American pitbull terriers and the inevitable lawsuits that will follow. " Oh my god I can't believe Damien and Spawn mauled my neighbors kid, I guess I was too baked to realize what all the screaming was." Seriously? Damien and Spawn, thats what you named your dog; was Lucifer and Hilter already taken?

The owners of the pit that attacked my dog, were a young lady going to college and her adult mom. I would say that they were well to do, and not engaging in animal cruelty or other illegal type things, in fact they also owned a Chihuahua. I not really sure how much more you need to "socialize" your dog, so they dont kill other living things. Really not my problem, having a pitbull reminds me of being Plaxico Burress, it sounded like a good idea at the time.

I sorry to hear that your dog was attacked by a pit bull. I'm sorry for anyone who has had a bad experience with the breed. But to be fair, just because she didn't engage her dog in dog fighting, or beat her dog does not mean that she was a good owner. I know plenty of people that don't beat there dog, and are perfectly nice people, but have dogs that have aggression issues. Its not the dogs fault. Also I'M not talking about put bull owners.

I have some friends with a springer spaniel that's bit a 3 year old child, the mail man, me, and several other people. The dog is bipolar. The 3 year old now has a scar on his face.

My old roommates black labs tee and tay (horrible names) were aggressive dogs. On more than one occasion they went after Damian. He has a scar to show for it. Damian was a pup about 6 months old. He did not fight back. I was also attacked by tay once. I walked into the yard went to the door and tay went for the back of my neck. Luckily tee and I got along and tee attacked tay saving my neck. I don't think black labs are too blame. It was the owner. Also she didn't beat her dogs, she played with them, but she didn't ever work with there issues. I know there are plenty of great black labs out there and I'm not going to judge a breed, on hearsay and one or two dogs. even if I met 100 mean black labs, I wouldn't say the breed is the issue that needs to be dealt with.

Banning pit bulls will not solve the problems of aggressive dogs

i think people buy pitbulls to feed there macho ego and say its for protection as an excuse.
same with owners of hand guns and assault rifles. those are legal if registered so i guess these dogs should be the same too...... taxed heavily
and while im at it the legalization of marijauna, just one more thing to tax on to pay back our debt.

I don't think my dogs feed my macho ego. there actually big ******. I don't need a dog or a gun to defend myself. For the most part people don't come to me looking for a problem. I get along with most people, obviously not everyone. My house was broken into several times with damian home, he obviously didn't stop the bastard. So there not a very good guard dog. I'm just glad he didn't get stolen. They were stealing my smoke and scraping my pipes. Teenagers I'm sure.
I'm not for the taxing of pit bull owners, If were going to have a dog tax it should be all breeds. Pit bulls only make a small percentage of total dog attacks, and a tax wouldn't solve anything. I would be willing to take a class to obtain a permit for my dogs. I would even vote for that law.

My dogs don't even look aggressive.
