hey i respect their cars, but they assume its extra badass cuz its a 240. And reliability...my car has 180,000 miles without a rebuild so...really?
My roommate drifts his 240 and he just bought an rx8...couldnt resist the rotary

We gotta let someone else win something for a change. We have an unfair advantage of not having pistons Plus I don't think anyone really cares about smackdown... I don't recall seeing much interest in the original thread and I really don't see this making anyone wanna do it... We make fun of ourselves and our own cars better than they attempt to so eh... No big deal. They can compete against my Tortoise tho if they really want someone from the 7 club

yeah let them have their fun its not like a huge amount of people on here were that interested besides from the people that autocross. its like what somebody said before "your cars are so unreliable and have no torque.. but im deathly afraid to race you" haha
my best friend has an sr in his 240 but hes sellin it because he wanted somethin nicer... and he got a 400 dollar speeding ticket. He almost bought an rx7 but i convinced him otherwise cuz he didnt have the money to pay for an FD and now hes got a 65 malibu thats gonna be the new home for a 383 v8, to each their own if you can afford your ride then have fun with it

Well, I"m still interested in doing it. I"m not scared and have been beat by better drivers many times before. In fact, Scott beat me by a second in my own car the first time he drove it.
However, it looks like it might be tough to get a team together at least of team of sporty cars I"m hoping to get more interest on the Volvo forum, but don't know if there are enough folks their either. Oh well. There are always other races.

Hey I wasn't trying to make trouble by copying that over to a new thread, just having some fun.
Smacktalk is part of the fun of the event.
I own 3 nissans AND 3 RX-7's so Im neutral, but I am helping to promote the event
2 days of nice safe racing and a killer party, whats not to like

i agree with the 240's being one step above hondas. when the F&F craze died down a little those same kids went and bought a 240 for a couple hundred bucks wrecked it trying to drift and called themselves nomuken............ so fuggin dumb....

well i heard last year that the team that won got it soley cause they put out the most cars, not the best, we were planning on grouping the best cars out of the valley to compete but i don't know if i want to run in an event that puts numbers before actual skill. the 240 guys would take it for sure, cause there is just so many of the little rice rockets runnin around

Ok gotta defend CARFREEK's here. They most definately DID NOT win on numbers, although they had a big team. They won on solid performance in the drag (3 out of the top 5) and solid performance in the autocross (2 out of the top 5, 1st and 3rd I believe).
Number's do count, but the team max bonus point limit is set so that a large team cant buy the win with numbers, the max you could get would be 15 points and THAT would be 10 cars with all female drivers, not F'n likely.
By comparison 1st place in the Drag is worth 16 points, which beats a full bonus point team, with ONE car.
If you show up with a solid 4 car team, and win 2 out of 3 outright, and place solidly in the 3rd, youll likely win (autocross is worth double points, it requires the most driver skill imo)

drag is heads up, fastest car wins.
Autocross IS indexed to the SCCA PAX index
we are using a slightly modified version of the drift judging rules used @ Monroe for their events
Tech inspections are by SCCA SOLO2 standards, roll cages not required.
You really need to have the 4 cars per event if possible, some of the drivers will pull runs in more than one event, but you want to plan on fielding 4, the bonus points will be minor, but losing even last place scored points hurts, depending on how many teams show. Hatchiruku is aparently planning a team, and I understand there is a team forming over @ the Tiburon forum. So as of right now I have been informed of at least 8 formal teams planning on attending.
If you cant pull together a full team, I would encourage those of you who want to run to try one of the other teams, Ultimate Car Forum, and TSDNW could both use some help in drag and drift, and they are both great bunches of people.

Didn't you get the memo!? The 240 is the new civic......
hahah. J/P.
My friend has a 240, swapped a sr20 into it, and we raced straight line, and I beat him. After he put FMIC and other mods, he can beat me now. But, my other friend with a T2 RX can still beat him, in a straight and down at Autocross.
Though, I have found autocross is more about driving ability, because at first i was being beat by a completely stock 2000 civic dx. Guy was a really good driver.
