My Mom's 1990 GTU Restoration
Well, I had a blog set up for this but my database decided to crap itself for some reason, so I figured I'd just repost it all here.
Starting from the beginning again...
Well I have had the car for a couple of months now, it is a 1990 Mazda RX-7 GTU.
The car needs a lot of love, including donations from several other cars for interior pieces, dashboard, wiring harness, and even the engine needs to be swapped over.
The car was stolen three times before it finally arrived in my driveway, and so the ignition wiring was all torn out and the whole column needed to be replaced.
The engine bay as she is right now. It looks so sad without an engine.

The dashboard is finally into my car! It's been a long time waiting for it, but I finally bugged my son enough to do it on a good sunny day outside.
Now what needs to be done is to finish hooking up the rest of the interior trim and the electrical parts such as the idiot cluster, and the stock cd player.
Found a few pieces that I need to replace.
This one has 3 of the 4 clips on the bottom of it broken.
The lid to the armrest is cracked in several places and also will need to be replaced as well.

We started the day off by taking the battery out of my sons RX-7.
The donor car:
And... we found out that the electrical systems are working! We checked the headlights, the turn signals, etc etc etc, and it all works just fine.
Including the clock even!
As we checked over the speedometer cable, we saw that the clutch line was also shredded.
Gauge cluster is now plugged in, and trim pieces are now in place.
Ignition column is in place, and various other pieces as well.
Steering wheel is hooked up and aligned correctly, as well as various other pieces.

Got the engine pulled today thanks to the wonderful Marc from FD3S Engineering...
DEGREASING!
Pulling the manifolds off and clearing them from debris.
Then right before it got too dark to work I cleaned the ports for getting Pineapple Racing sleeves in there tomorrow.

Yeah that's the red car he had, the whole interior is stripped except for front carpet and headliner, and now the engines gone, drivers side door is even gone now.
Just gotta pull a couple of things off her, and she's ready to go to her final resting place possibly. :p

i'll snag it up, i dont need anything but the shell and the ability to roll it around
Is the frame/core support bent or was it just outer damage?
Did you see the S5 lights on craigslist for 60.00 right by you guys? That would be a nice score
That GTU's going to be sweeeeet !

Pineapple Racing Auxiliary Sleeves:
Got the injectors cleaned here locally... reasonably locally at least.
Injectors at a 119/119/120/119 flow:
Also I picked up some exhaust gaskets, and intake gaskets from Pineapple as well, but for some reason the picture of that got lost somehow. Oh well, always a pleasure to visit the guys down at Pineapple Racing.

Sounds good Joe! Look forward to seeing you tomorrow, hope we can get something worked out.
Got a little bit of cleaning in on the engine before the rains just started coming in, at least the housings are starting to look nice. :p

They were $100 for all 4, the place is really easy to get to out in Gladstone, I-205 sb, exit 11, take a right off the exit, right onto "first" st, and then its like half a block down. Nice guy there, kinda talkative though. :p
