Mechanical secondaries...........
#7
Ok guys I'm thinking you all don't have a clue about how they work "secondaries on carbs". Frist fact they came from the factory inop, the dealers where or was to hook them up, some did and some didn't , some simply charged the custorm to do so, next fact if they are working rite you will be unable to feel it or tell when they are openning up, very smothe ingaugement, next we look at the dieaframe that opens them most larg with a real lite spring inside, becouse when the engine has the RPM to over come the vacuum dope there is not much vacuum at this point to force a small heavy springed dieframe open, and you will find that as time goes on then sec die gets hard a stiff and there for not be working at all, so at this point a pull string hooked up to the sec shaft crank going down the street on the fast side will let you know "give it a pull" per as to be fully open or the inter lock will lock out the sec, and if they where not working befor you'll feel in now,

Remember to read the section on the AP as you should enlarge it via gaskets and a longer AP arm. There are some that would say you dont need to. My feeling is the person that did the tutorial knows a hell of alot more than most of us about carbs. So that being said, look at that section and make the mods. I seen an improvement once I got it dialed in. Just bread tying the secondaries shows a flat spot, fixing the AP got rid of it.
