Mazda owners get together drive from Portland to Seaside and back

Hey guys/gals...A few of us are planning a get together on Sat, Aug 20th. Looking for a bunch of Mazda owners who want to get together for a day of driving and bullshit!

The course will consist of some of the best driving roads in our area. The drive will start from Apex Restoration, located in Beaverton. We will go towards the coastal city of Seaside and stop in Beaver for food and gas. Then going on to Seaside. From Seaside back is still under consideration..any ideas? Hopefully we will get at least 30 people together. Let me know if you are interested. Should be fun...if you can keep up!

Apex Restoration
12225 SW Millikan way
Beaverton, Oregon 97005
(Canyon and Hall, behind Damerow Ford)

I would be interested, but that's about the same time that a few [others?] and me, were planning to meet down in Salem?
Maybe we could do a drive somewhere off of I-5 and combine the groups? [You did say that the road back from Seaside is underconstruction..]

Let me know ^_^ [AIM: derekcat3 or email: derekcat AT gmail.com]

Portland to Rockaway is 2.5 hrs [93 miles], Marc says it's a fun road?

We could do that if everyone's still up for it?

I read a few posts about the Salem BBQ. ..It would be great to get everyone together somewhere..The Seaside back thing is under consideration, not construction!! We were going to drive the route next Tuesday to make sure it would be a good time, let you all know more about the route then? Any ideas? I do know that the road there has alot of switch backs that are posted at 15 mph...Hmmmm

We have a few people now from the RX8 and 3 club that are responding. What do you guys think about gettting a few non Mazda drivers? Would that be sacreligious?! Just thinking about getting a nice number of people to make it a big event.

Just got my Valentine One, it already saved me three times last week on my bike. I'll take point if you need a spotter. What pace does everyone want to drive at?

The guys drove the course today and the results are kick-***! They said it was awesome..I guess one road is being re-paved and will be ready for the day. As far as speed goes..I think we should have fun and see what our cars are able to handle, but I also know that you WOULD NOT want to go off the road in the corners! So good pace, just not stupid pace!! Any other suggestions from anyone?

I have to get a Valentine1, I have heard great things about them for years. I was also going to look into the radar/laser jammer w/detector, anyone have one of those? http://www.jammersstore.com/jammers.htm I talked to a friend of mine who is a cop and asked him if a car just buzzed by without registering on his radar. He said once or twice, but wasn't sure if it was a jammer or not.

Only problem with that system is that your spending a lot of money for something that can't jam laser.

which? The Valentine or the so called laser jammers?? I know the Valentine won't, it is just a detector but a damn good one from everything I have read and heard. The jammers is what I was asking about.....

Some jammers that are for sale don't work that well, mainly due to the fact that they can't reacted fast enough to jam a cops laser when they pop flash you. So for a split second cops get a read on your speed and give you a ticket even though they only trapped your speed for a second. The really good ones are molded into your bodywork, but there bucu bucks.
